Silent World is a free, 2d MMO/RTS game featuring an original mixture of role-playing and strategy gameplay. SW is being developed and is in early alpha stage.

The easiest way to describe Silent World is to say: Ultima Online meets Warcraft2. SW is a hybrid of an mmo RPG and a classic RTS game.

In multiplayer, players are divided into two teams: Orcs and Humans. Both nations compete for resources which are necessary for technological advancement - the only way of getting advantage over the other race. Every player controls his own character, like in Ultima Online. What is more, he can also control a number of additional NPC units, jut like in Warcraft 2!

Looking at your description looks more like UO meets heroes of might and magic. Maybe Ultima online, meets heroes of might and magic, meets warcraft.

Looks and plays really good. I like many possibilities crafting and building. I love this game, and I really like that you won't go for the 3d because I loved and love UO for polished 2d art and feel, hope this project will do the same.. and more of course.

I would like to see this game more like MMO with centralized servers, but that would mean game would have subscription or item market :(

I could dream about features I would like to see in this game for ever.

Will recommend game to my UO playing friends.

Wish you luck with this project and hope to see more awesome stuff. Keep up good work :)

BTW Registered in moddb ONLY because of Silent World! :)

Nooooooo, open-source/free 3D engines usually lag behind the truly 'modern' ones. Better a fine polished isometric perspective.

Hopefully if this gets to a good point in development, it can possible be free or a one time purchase to keep forever kind of thing. Subscriptions mmos without a good foundation (or subscription mmos in general) will kill the game.

Although, north america is much more adapted to the subscription model, while asia is closer to the microtransaction model...

But such information is faulty, because this year, all of the payment models are drastically changing.

Silent World will be completely free unless we come across some realy high, unexpected expenses. Another issue is the question whether there'll be an official server with an MMO gameplay - an alternative to that would be encouraging players to host their own games.

The bottom line is: a free 2d isometric MMORTS for Windows, Mac and Linux with a fairly straightforward gameplay consistng of building and crafting.
