Rush Stop is about the adventures of a little kid on their tumultuous journey to catch the bus on time. A rather simple premise, but the obstacles on this kid’s way will make it challenging to reach the bus on time.

General Update for the game Rush Stop, focused on environmental design.

Greetings, dear reader!

This week, things have been a bit slow, it's after easter after all, and the team is tired from chasing after easter bunnies. (Programmer's note: that's totally what happened.)

So this week, we've decided to show you a bit of inspiration for how the game itself is going to look.

To start, we should acknowledge the fact that the whole team is born and raised in Portugal, it's the places were more used to seeing on our daily lives, and so we decided to use those places for our environment in-game. We're currently still working on the concept art itself, but there's already some research that we can show right now.

Lisbon

Pictured: Lisbon. If you ever walked here without falling, I applaud you.

For a lot of us, the classic architecture of most Portuguese streets are quite colourful. Featuring buildings of different heights and several different colours. Some even have tiles decorating their frontages. We believe this diversity in design will create an interesting backdrop for our game.

Pictured: More Building examples. All I can say is that yes, it's almost always this sunny out here.

In the meantime though, we do have something related to environmental design, but not exactly related to backgrounds.

Yes it's the bus.

The concept for this bus is actually rather interesting. In a way, this bus has to represent not only an actual bus, but public transportation in general (Refer to Rush Stop: Inspirations for more insight). With that in mind, our artist had the brilliant idea to mix two types of public transport in one.

Pictured: Initial concept fot the Bus. Ain't it a cute little bus? It's going to be real cute to run after it too.

In the 1st image, we have a tram. These yellow, electric powered, glorified miniature trains are a staple in Lisbon's tourist attractions, and also a visual staple of the city. That combined with the design of our local bus system, which has caused some of us a lot of possibly game inspiring headaches, created this design. (Note: This is still the 1st stage, so subject to change)

Well, that is all I have to offer you today! Until Next time!

Don't Rush, I'll see you on our next Stop!
