A third person action brawler where two teams of six players each, fight using magical abilities over different maps. Take control of a wood spirit and collect different abilities scattered over the map to destroy the enemy team. The game will feature several different abilities all with a magical theme and advanced physical effects. Root force is developed by a small university team using our own engine with additional third party libraries such as Bullet physics and more. It is currently being developed as part of a school project but it is our hope to release it after the course is finished in March.

A short summary on the current project status and features to come for the upcoming SGA competition

Wow it has been quite some time again since we wrote anything. The reason for this is that the school part of Root Force is now officially finished *hurray* and we are now a stand alone project.

This means of course that we have less time to work on the game since other courses will take up most of the time for the development team. But fear not! we will continue working to polish up some last things before the Swedish Game Awards this summer, things such as:

  • Fully functional AMD support(Right now the game only runs on Nvidia cards)
  • Improve the GUI for increased performance
  • Better options for graphical settings
  • Enhanced Abilityspawnpoints with different rarities so that different spawnpoint spawn different abilities(Has been completly random up until now)
  • Visual effects for status changes effecting the player such as frozen etc
  • Different skins for certain abilities such as exploding shrooms so that you can tell friendly and enemy shrooms apart, same for totems.
  • Improved sounds
