Pokémon World 3D is a free, unofficial, 3D MMORPG heavily inspired by the Pokemon video games. If you're interested in helping the project, please note that at this time asset gatherers/creators are the only need. However, all support is both greatly appreciated and highly motivating. Post news Report RSS Should Pokémon Yellow Be Influential?

So, as we all know...Pokémon World 3D is strongly (if not completely) based on the original games (meaning not tied to the anime). Here's the problem. We all (or most of us) know that GameFreak only make Pokémon Yellow as a marketing response to the hit anime/TV series starring Ash Ketchum. With that said, I've been wrecking my brain on whether or not to factor Pokémon Yellow into the equation.

For example... In Red, Blue, and (in Japan) Green, players could only attain Bulbasaur, Charmander, and/or Squirtle (and their evolutions) via selecting them as their starter Pokémon or via trade. However, In Yellow players could attain all three through in-game events. Another example... Certain Pokémon could be found in the wild in Yellow in locations that they were not found in Red, Blue, and Green. Such as finding a Pidgeotto in Viridian Forest. So...since I cannot decide on my own, I'm (for the first time ever) giving you...the players...a say! Cast your vote on whether you feel Yellow should influence Pokémon World 3D just the same as Red, Blue, and Green HERE.

I personally think that in order to keep the game more competitive and to encourage player to player interaction, that it would be better to go with the Red/blue version idea where you choose between the three starters.

Out of curiosity, in what way do you think player interaction and competitiveness would be diminished if Yellow was included too?

Just the fact that you can get the best fire, grass, and water pokemon early in the game like in yellow. Everyone is going to use them to gain an advantage in competitive play. It would encourage people to trade pokemon with each other to try and complete the pokedex. If you could just catch all the starters there would be less incentive to trade b/c you can just go catch the best pokemon. I honestly wouldnt mind too much either way i just personally think that this would be the better of the two options.

Well I don't know if I would call Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise the "best" grass, fire, and water types in the game, but I get where you're going. This is why I told people keep in mind I'm not asking if the game should be EXACTLY like Yellow. I'm only asking if certain aspects of Yellow should be influential. Red and Blue (and Green) will still hold the most weight (when it comes to the Kanto region). However, thanks for the input! It's much appreciated.
