Out with the old, in with the new. This is the new design and art for the Pig character in the game. With the help of one of my teammate, the new character design and art style fits the looks we hope to archive with the game.
The old character design looked too similar to the art style Angry Birds. Ask friends about what we thought about the character always brought up the same answer; "It looks like Angry Birds." No knocking down what Rovio has done, its a great look, but we at Chillsters at least want try to be original.
To get the look we got rid of the lines. Lines are the devil and they don't look good on a small screen even on a high resolution display. In replacement of lines we added an extra layer of shading. The colour of the pig was also improved. Even though this is just a because profile shot, this new character design allows us to do so much more in terms of promotional artwork and sprite animation.
