I have released Oh Shoot! on Kongregate! You can now play it over there, as long as you have the Unity plugin. See if you can get a nice high score!

What's new?

I've improved the keyboard controls. W/S or E/D control the left cannon, while O/K or P/L control the right cannon. Now people with AZERTY keyboards should be able to have fun too.

I also added controller support. It plays surprisingly well with a dual stick controller.

You can now pause the game by hitting SPACE. This way you can get a peek at your score so far.

There's also a button to toggle the animated background, in case you don't like it.

What about iOS?

It's doing great! Expect the game to be released on the App Store in April. There'll be a free iAd-supported version as well as a paid one, which will have Game Center support. Both versions include HD graphics so they will look great on both your iPhone and your iPad.

What about performance?

I play this game on a 1st generation iPod Touch. It runs smooth around 30fps, except for occasional one-frame dips. I play it on an iPhone 3G running iOS 4.2.1 as well. It performs similar, except when the device decides to schedule other tasks. You know, phone and network stuff (fetching an iAd really hurts). Then framerate can really suffer, but it stays playable enough to survive a bullet hell.

I must admit though that those old models have the animated background permanently disabled. But if you have anything newer, there's nothing to worry about.

Now go get a high score!
