Hello, indieDB Community!
Welcome to the 1st article about our in development game, Nata.
Nata, is a game where you play as an adventurous bird who decides to fly all the way to Macao to open a Portuguese bakery.
This week, our team did some general research about Macanese culture as well as visual research of Largo do Senado, one of the places where Nata will take place.
Game's Narrative and Concept
In our game, you play as an adventurous bird who decides to fly all the way to Macao to open a Portuguese bakery.
The bakery’s menu revolves around the famous Portuguese egg tarts aka Pastéis de Nata that are very well-known in Asia.
In Nata, you have the opportunity to explore one of Macao’s most famous town-squares, Largo do Senado, and experience a little bit of Macao’s seaside market, which takes place in a fictional port.
This way, you will learn more about Macanese culture as well as the history behind the success of egg tarts in Asia, especially in Macao. In Nata’s world, you can explore Largo do Senado and the port, buy, craft and trade different items that might help build and decorate your bakery and lastly, interact with different NPCs who have special quests for you to complete.
Largo de Senado
Our game will have 2 areas: Largo do Senado, one of the most famous town squares of Macao, and a fictional port based on some of the Macao's ports.
Besides this, it is also important to mention that Nata will occur during the Chinese New Year, so both areas will be filled with thematic decorations such as red chinese lanterns, paper door banners, paper cuttings and so on.
Well, we reached the end of our 1st article!
Next article will be focused on art-style and concept studies.
See you next week!
