Post news Report RSS Luckless Seven Alpha 0.159 and A New Direction

Our latest demo, alpha version 0.159, introduces new changes to the battle screen. Along with pretty new visual effects and backgrounds, we also have a big announcement concerning our art direction for the overworld!

We recently uploaded a new alpha demo that contains a new animated background for our battle screen. The new background depicts a sky with animated clouds and a flare. We're still working out how the UI blends with everything, so expect to see some small changes in the future.

Outside of the battle screen, we've been working on a huge change with the overworld. Some of you may have been wondering why there haven't been any updated pictures of the explorable world for the past several updates. Previously, we were planning on having the overworld in 2D using pixel graphics. A few months ago, we made the heavy decision to transform the overworld into 3D and use realistic graphics.

The game will make use of realistic lighting and reflections. The world will still be isometric and have large environments to explore.

It was disheartening to put away a lot of what we already created, especially since our artist had created many highly detailed assets for us. However, we're incredibly excited about how our game looks now and how we plan for it to look in the future. We are also almost finished incorporating our new dialogue system, so many of the advanced features of the game are finally coming together nicely.

We're currently working on completing the first city, so look forward to more overworld screenshots in the future!
