Steam Fest recently ended, where I was able to get feedback on my game. I realized that the bottle neck is the combat system and now I'm working on it.
I've played many similar games and nowhere but Mordhau did I like the combat.
I'm trying to make something of my own along similar lines.
And now I'm trying to make the combat simpler and clearer. Adding elements, experimenting with the timing of animations, etc.
In a short version, it looks like this: NPC starts an attack animation, and player must make a block in correct time.
I took a video of the fight as it looks now. Of course it's worth working on the animations, but I think the principle is clear.
