Great to see you working on this game because I am actually making similar game by myself. Well, I am still not sure what it will be exactly because so far I have only controls built, but they are really good with much more control then for example ones from Luftrauser. Did you tried that game ? Though, the con is that shooting is too precise now, and in the end I needed to make it automatic which altogether kinda lead to a totally different game, some kinda mix between Frantic Frigates and shmup games. I could make dogfighting, but I want that in game player moves his ship mostly towards up ( cause it is launching game with upgrades ), and that each encounter lasts really short so I think for this style dogfighting is not really possible. What you think ? But probably the bigger problem is that I don't have much experience with designing shooters in scrolling arenas, for lot of time now I have been making arena shooters that have levels with size of the screen so no camera movement except for screen shaking of course. ;) Anyway, if you want we can exchange experiences, maybe we can help each other to make better games. This is looking really good so far, and good luck with the game !

Hawks will provide the player complete 2D control. That is, he can speed up, turn left & right.
This way, I have been able to create a 2D dogfighting experience. It is possible to shoot homing missiles if the enemy is within range & the enemies are able to evade the missiles using their flares.
As for inspiration, I couldn't really find any good 2D dogfighting game but Luftrausers did provide an excellent example of how to use screen shake effectively.

There is no support for modding at the moment. If the game takes off, I might look into it based on demand.
