We currently have a ramp jump or vault system in the game where the player is able to hold jump while landing on a ramp and moving down its incline to trigger a boosted jump that effectively doubles your jump distance and height.

In previous play tests we have found that players had difficulty deciphering the way to perform this technique, a big problem as in some sections of the stage and definitely future stages we will be using this technique as a way to progress through certain puzzle elements of the stage and even to access secret areas.

To rectify the situation one idea that we have currently been playing with is to remove the trampoline like way of triggering a ramp jump and instead introduce a power jump from a ramp slide. The most logical order events of this to trigger would be as follows:

  • Player jumps into the air over a ramp
  • Player presses DOWN + ATTACK to trigger sort of a dive kick which forces the character down at an increased speed while attacking
  • Character hits the ramp and continues the kick down the slope of the ramp in a slide at an increased movement speed (the slide itself would also be an attack when coming into contact with enemies on the ramp)
  • Player presses jump while sliding to go into the power jump giving doubled height and distance over a normal jump
