In Ensign-1 you play the role of a space fighter pilot returning from a deep space colonization mission. On arrival back to our own solar system, you find Earth has been colonized by a hostile alien force. It's now up to you, with the help of your mothership, the Ensign-1, to take it back Ensign-1 allows allows for complete freedom in approaching objectives. You can fight from the safety of your spacecraft, or land and exit to explore space stations and carriers on foot. You can commandeer any spacecraft in the game, no matter how big or how small. Defend an asteroid base, or take the fight to the enemy with a huge mothership, friends manning turrets, it's your choice. The game also features a multiplayer mode where players can explore a randomly generated galaxy, either fighting co-operatively to clean out enemy fighters, or battling each other for supremacy.

Hi.
I just bought the game and played until the 3 mission, about inspecting the abandoned frigate. I've found some nasty bug.
Whenever I enter the frigate's hangar with my fighter and I get out of my fighter by pressing Shift, the game crashes. I'm stuck because of that.
Also, it has happened to me once to in the previous mission about the mining facility. When I tried to get out of my fighter in the asteroid's hangar, the game crashed. It happened only once, though.
Other times I get out of my fighter and I appear under the hangar floor. I usually can fix it by re-entering my ship again and going back out, or by jumping a little bit.

Is there anything I can do to prevent this?

I also have the problem on the third mission, it says that something called Ender3 has stopped working. It worked on the mining facility though

Hey there, thanks for letting me know. I shall look into it.

Can you guys send me some info about your systems? I'm mostly curious how fast they are.

Hi. Sorry for not answering earlier.
I don´t think my computer is slow. Anyway these are the specs:
Intel Core i7 920 (8 cores, 3GHz)
8GB DDR3 SDRAM
ATI Radeon HD 4800 series

The game runs really smooth all the time except when getting out of the player's ship or back into it. The whole game freezes for a couple of seconds before the player is transported outside (or inside).
This happens in all missions, both when docking with the Ensign-1, the Minning Facility and the Frigate. The only difference is that in the case of the Frigate, after the 2 seconds freeze, the game crashes to desktop.

Yea, unfortunately I haven't been able to reproduce the bug on my own computers, but I do have some general ideas of how I might be able to squash this problem.

Last question, what OS are you using?

May 4 2012 Anchor

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

Is there any chance I can send you some kind of crash report so that you can debug this? Do I need to enable something in some configuration file that traces the call stack or something? I want to help. This game has so much potential. :)

I can try replicating the bug in a Windows 7 Home Premium x32 Asus laptop and on a Windows Vista Home x64 desktop. I´ll post the results later when I get home to do so.

Hey, don't worry about replicating the bug. It wouldn't help me much if you did those things. I have enough info now, I'll look into it.

If you have a crash report, you can send it to onionman77@only-humanstudios.com , but no I don't write to a log or anything ;) Sorry.

Hey just wanted to let you know, I am working on this, I think I'm slowly knocking out things that could potentially be the problem. Definitely going to be cleaning up the code at least.

Nice to know that you are fixing stuff. It will make the game better even if just a little. :)

i encountered the same error. After a bit of 'not responding', ender3.exe stopped responding and i got the error message JPEG: cannot load file, it is probably corrupted. or something like that.

I'm getting this error too, whenever I leave the ship and attempt to walk in the mother ship. I run Windows Vista 64 if that's relevant.

Sep 8 2012 Anchor

Which error specifically?

Sep 12 2012 Anchor

Well, nothing actually pops up, it just says that ender3.exe stopped responding.

Sep 12 2012 Anchor

I mean, when does this happen.

Sep 15 2012 Anchor

After getting out of the fighter in the mothership, what's weird is I played the game in compatibility mode (Win XP) and it worked fine, well it still had long loading times and such.

Alright I've got an idea what might be causing that, I'll make a fix and upload it.
