In May of 1990, three high school students from the remote town of Cull, Maine are found dismembered in a seemingly demonic ritual. Jason, a recluse resident and former patient of the now abandoned Cull State Asylum, has become the prime suspect. Himself, and several other town folk who have been threatened by the ensuing witch hunt, have retreated into isolation in the dense forests surrounding the town. It is now October, temperatures are dropping and the days are growing shorter. Jason returns to the town in the hopes that the murderer has been found and can obtain goods for the coming winter. What he finds instead is a town completely empty of life. Cars are abandoned and the homes are broken into, but no bodies are found. Desperate messages written on buildings and blood found on walls tell him that something hellish has invaded his small town and it is spreading. With the sun setting, Jason realizes there is now something hideous stalking him.

New Characters added and environment improvements!

Posted by on

As my favorite time of year approaches, wanted to show some of the updates for our horror survival game Cull. Most of the progress has been getting prototype Undead characters running around in game. The models still need some tuning, and animations are very raw, but its really cool to have at least a few in game as place holders.

We also spent a lot of time working on tweaking the environment to give that creepy "Halloween" feel. Having grown up in New England, I don't think anywhere else in the world is as pretty and spooky at the same time as New England is in the Fall. I've spent hours tweaking lighting and vegetation to try and get this feel for the whole 4kmx4km map before I really start focusing on buildings and characters.

Also, our little team of 3 (Andy-Design Lead/Animation, Onyx-Voice Actor, Will- Audio Engineer) are looking for 3D/2D designer as a fourth member to help me (Andy) with making buildings and man-made objects (e.g. mailboxes, dumpsters etc.)

I've made all the objects in the game so far and have tons of source images of abandoned buildings and some pretty good template files to help anyone get started. For my building/vegetation assets I use Blender/Gimp for everything, so ideally experience in with those software would be perfect, but anyone who is passionate about horror games and interested in this project should contact us!

Thanks guys for any support and interest, feel free to ask any questions about the project!

-Andy
