Core of Innocence is a platform adventure game in a similar vein to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. It currently features 49 weapons, over 250 pieces of equipment, 18 spells, and several 'key items' to aid you on your journey. The mapping system is similar to that of Castlevania: SotN and Super Metroid so tracking your location and explored areas is a little easier. Core of Innocence consists of eight areas, each with its own theme of unique monsters and environmental hazards and bosses. There will be 18 quests in game to fill in the story along the way and to provide equipment upgrades to the player as they progress through the game. Otherwise the world is pretty much entirely open, only limited by lack up key item upgrades for movement such as double jump or cat form for climbing walls. Be warned though, there is some nudity in game so it is aimed towards the adult/mature crowd, but there are options to disable most of it should you want to.

Report RSS Hello Everybody!

I've been lurking for a while now and figured it was time to get my project listed, so here is my game "Core of Innocence" and where it is at in the development stages!

Okay! Time for a little info on my current project, Core of Innocence! I have been working on CoI for about six years now, working whenever I get the free time to do so! I perhaps shot a big big for my first title but it's been a fantastic learning experience so far and I've gotten lots of help and support along the way from my friends and my team at Pudding Hat Games.

Ahh, right then! The current state of progress for CoI is thus: The game world is done, the inventory, all items, weapons, spells, key items - they are all complete! You can start a new game, get past the story bits and then explore the entire world from start to finish - but its a little barren at the moment mostly due to there being no enemies or ambient environmental effects yet! Which leads to the current task at hand...

Enemies! I just recently completed 40 of the 60+ enemies I plan on having in game, and I've sent out a current build for my test group to dig through! They have been sending me bug reports as they can (damn jobs taking away from debug time! haha) and I'm glad to say that the reports that have been coming in have been very easy to fix little stuff, and some feature updates which I've all implemented so far.

I had a meeting with Aaron (PHG co-founder, music guy, webmaster, not yet on IndieDB) recently about the music, and we are working on getting that all wrapped up – we are up to 20 tracks! It’s crazy because it doesn’t seem like that many in game. But, the music is all but complete!

I've been spending most of the past couple weeks getting some of the death animations finished for the current 40 enemies, and getting sound effects added in for them as well. It's coming along quite well indeed!

I'm also in the process of getting a new promo video set up to show off some of the current changes and improvements to the game, as well as getting a kickstarter launched for some funds to help with production costs. Mostly media and some movie conversion software we need for the intro movie to the game. More news on that to come.

At any rate, if I can keep up this pace I may actually be able to release sometime this year… XD

It's great being now actively part of such an awesome community, and I look forward to talking with many of you! I highly value all C&C so by all means if you have something to say, all I ask is you keep it constructive!
