Having quite a lot of troubles with networking in UE4 at the moment, it's a known issue in the current state of the engine, and we are using some work arounds, but I thought I'd take some recordings from a singleplayer set up at the moment, so you guys can get a feel of the monster behaviours.
There's a tonnnneeee more work to do but hopefully I'd be able to post up a more substantial video in the coming weeks with some commentary.
This looks fantastic! You're doing an amazing job :)
Thank you! That means a lot!
Looks really interesting :) is it the light that causes monsters to retreat?
Yeah the monsters are scared of strong light. So flashlights and droppable lights keep them at bay. The stronger the light the more scared they are. But they will always try and find their way around the light and get you from your darkest area, but occasionally one will break out, attack you and will spur on the others. Occasionally you will set off swarms, where hordes of the monsters will come and attack you.
This sounds like a great game mechanic! So will one of the goals during single and coop gameplay be to find/craft new light sources that produce more light?
