"Clique" is a top-down action adventure game. The player takes the role of an unnamed character in a world where she doesn't fit in. “Clique” is a story told through a young girl trying to escape the world around her as an avatar within the game. Players will explore environments, solve puzzles, and defeat enemies to build trust with the world's unwelcoming characters. We believe "Clique" is an experience that gives players a relatable perspective of the the black community and its struggles with race, gender, and equality. "Clique" is being developed by Detroit Michigan based company Dead Art Games. With this first title, the team at Dead Art plans to create an experience that focuses heavily on diversity and culture

To answer a few questions all at the same time.
We plan on telling the story in waves. Players start off as the girl's avatar and the story of how he is lost in this world full of characters that don't what to have anything to do with him and even harass him at some points. After completing the first level the the camera pulls back to reveals players are actually in control of a young girl that is playing a game. Finding out more of her story which is how she enjoys being in her game world a lot more then dealing with real life. Her story is kinda like if the main character from life is strange was a hard core gamer. Every level the girl takes a break from her game and interacts with her environment dealing with problems before going back to her game [these choices are somethings optional].
The story behind the game is pretty long but simply we wanted to make a different type of game one that show more of our (Dan and I) experience as gamers we wanted to show a different type of character, with a different type of story. This girl has no powers she isn't really special in anyway but when playing her game she feels that way. We are also sick of the lack of divers games you never see a black woman or man on the cover of a game and the ones that are, are bad representations. We are adding the music and beats of our culture our style, the way we talk, over all this game will just feel different. We don't beat players over the head with the fact that our characters are black that's just who they are but it will be a new kind of character that players aren't use to.
