Beret is a 2D puzzle-platformer game about a scientist, astonishingly named Beret, who has gained telekinetic abilities through his research at the Evil Corporation. He decides that the Evil Corporation is a tad too evil for his liking, and begins his solitary quest to overthrow the corporation and punish the evil deeds of his employers. Beret has 21 puzzle-filled levels, 120 collectable Medallions, over 20 hours of gameplay, and an unlockable level editor.

To celebrate having cleared level 1 through 9 with five medallions each, I decided to attempt to get the time trial medallions on the earlier levels.

So I go back to level 1 and I make my way through the rooms as speedily as I can. I get to this spot (only I fail to smoothly get past the enemy and I die) and the game crashes, just suddenly quits. I close a few open windows and browser tabs and try again. The exact same thing happens. And again. One more time, this time I stop to take a screen shot and I quit properly.

I'm on an HP Pavilion zv6000 running Windows XP Service Pack 3 on a 32-bit system.

[EDIT] (About an hour and a half later) It's behaving itself now, but I still have to wonder what caused it in the first place. Hopefully it was just a random *thing* that occasionally happens.

Yeah... I have no idea. Last time I saw the game crash was because of a bug I fixed two patches ago, and that was easily reproducible. It was crashing at the exact same spot each time?

And actually, looking at that screenshot more closely, it looks like you're using an old version of the game since you have the blue medallion but the fragments aren't transparent to show that they've been collected. You probably want to download the most recent version at kiwisauce.com/beret (your save files will stay intact). Maaaybe something weird was going on because of that.

I could have sworn I did update to the new version. Although maybe something went wrong (or I did something wrong) because my version is 1.0.997 and the more recent version is 1.1.99999.

Thanks!

(Or, maybe, I simply missed that there was another new version after the previous new version.)
