Beret is a 2D puzzle-platformer game about a scientist, astonishingly named Beret, who has gained telekinetic abilities through his research at the Evil Corporation. He decides that the Evil Corporation is a tad too evil for his liking, and begins his solitary quest to overthrow the corporation and punish the evil deeds of his employers. Beret has 21 puzzle-filled levels, 120 collectable Medallions, over 20 hours of gameplay, and an unlockable level editor.

Now that I've completed the last level with all 120 medallions (in a row - decided I wouldn't skip a level at any point until I had all 6), I think I can now accurately summarise this as one of the best games (if not the best) I've ever played :) The level design was simply ingenious; I could name so many puzzles I loved but those two rooms in level 20 (I'm sure you know which; already mentioned by others elsewhere on this forum) topped it off.

With the exception of the ghost monsters which didn't really add more than an annoyance factor, every single element added new and interesting twists to the gameplay, and I loved every minute of it :)

Having obtained all the medallions, I would like to say to anyone who is playing or planning to play this game with a laptop that the game IS POSSIBLE, and you can also get the medallions. I have been playing this game on a laptop with the touchpad, and even some of the tricky block throws (standing on one block, jumping then throwing it up with you, then throwing another block under before it falls) were possible to do.

So if you are thinking this game can't be done with a laptop, I am here to tell you that it can, and that you can get all medallions as well.

Wow, thank you, Triple_M! That's quite a compliment! I'm really glad you enjoyed the game so much.

And that's good to know, jamesdenem - obviously the game was designed with very precise mouse control in mind, but if you can do everything on a laptop trackpad, all the better.

Alright, I'm going to stick a fork in the Evil Corporation and call it done. I only have 115 medallions, but all I'm missing are 5 speed-run medallions I don't care to get, so as far as I'm concerned I've solved all the puzzles.

I think the main campaign is pretty well paced - the first few levels are balanced at a good difficulty level of easy and simple-looking enough to not scare anyone off, but still tricky enough to give hints about what kind of thinking is necessary to solve puzzles in Beret. The middle and late levels, of course, are also fun, but do a great job of inventively expanding the search space. I knew I was having fun when I anticipated a lot of the puzzles that came out of adding "killing yourself" as a legitimate puzzle-solving tactic. I don't really have any complaints about the elements in the game; I think they work alright as platformer enemies and elements and I think we haven't come close to squeezing out all the puzzle potential of the fake blocks or the ghosts.

So, good game! I'm looking forward to seeing some user-made puzzles.

Yeah, I can certainly see some of the speed runs being an annoyance if you're not into that type of thing. The levels with two finish doors are the ones that I was annoyed with (level 13 had a time limit of something like 6 minutes before I decided the speed run was just going to be the first room). I'm glad you liked it, Leylite, and I'm looking forward to user-made puzzles too! :)

By the way, I posted about the way to open the level editor if you don't have all the medallions on my blog, but just in case someone missed it, you just have to type 'evilevilevil' on the map screen. I'm starting to question the design choice of making the level editor require every single medallion... I may change that at some point, who knows.

I managed to get those 5 remaining medallions anyway - after some retries I managed to save time in a lot of rooms and get remaining times for last rooms that were a lot more reasonable. Good thing those time limits do have some slack.

Add me to the list - I just got my last fragment!
This game is truly one of the best, if not *the* best puzzle platformer I've ever played. I had to use some hints for a few puzzles, but honestly, that was just because I was eager to go further! Everything in this game is very cleverly thought out, and it shows. Even the speed runs, which I thought would be a pain in the ass, got easier with practice (though for some I can't remember how I did it and probably wouldn't be able to again!)
Kudos Kiwisauce, and looking forward to your next game/additional levels/whatever!
