Report RSS Just a bit of clarification on the "we" thing...

Just thought I'd get clear why I keep using "we", instead of "I". The first reason, is that it's a really bad habit, and that's just sad on my part. On the other hand, there is some others helping on the project, so technically it's true...

Just thought I'd get clear why I keep using "we", instead of "I". The first reason, is that it's a really bad habit, and that's just sad on my part. On the other hand, there is some others helping on the project, so technically it's true...

When I first started on Apocalyptic, it was just me. A few months after starting Apocalyptic I came across someone offering their services as a graphics artist for a game on a forum. That person was Patrick Slades, and he has contributed the most towards the project. When he first jumped on board, he went through my rather messy project and corrected a fair few errors, as well as making some things work much better. Since then, Slades hasn't done anything on the building of the game, BUT he has been fantastic with helping out with concept and design process. Everything you see here, that's screenshots because that's it at the moment, is first carefully planned by me and Slades and then implemented into the game and "evented" by me.

Slades is also, of course, the graphics artist. Pretty much everything in the screenshots above is my original art, which sucks, which is soon to be replaced by Slades's art. Currently we are still planning out which graphics are more important to get done first. Also, seeing Slades art is generally at a higher resolution to my graphics, having his and my own graphics mix will look particularly weird. So, the new graphics will come in later. Construct is awesome, because changing graphics around will literally take less then an hour or so.

The other two people that have been a great help is Static Dogma and yoniluria. Both are very talented musicians that have created or are creating music for Apocalyptic. I know that I am, personally, very excited about seeing how this project will turn out when it's finished.

On the topic of a progress update, I'll post a full update later on. We've... I've... hmmmm.... have implemented a full menu, lots of graphical tweaks, new items, some basic weapons and FINALLY introducing your favourite enemy- zombies. Also- we're thinking about having pre-made maps a big part of Apocalyptic, having the option to either generate a Random Map or play a Pre-made Map which would be far more complex and varied to play in. What does this mean...? Level Editors...? Maybe. Time will tell.

Oh yes, it's a day late but Merry Christmas everyone!

Still being a bit too depricating on yourself (relax! this is your first game. you're going to make mistakes, that's how you learn!). Besides that, I'm glad to hear Slades is helping you out and that you guys are proceeding along well. I expect good things of this game.

My biggest concern is of people expecting too much of the game- I don't want a lot of disinterment when it is finally finished. Also, I've found a lot of glitches in Construct which could seriously hinder both me and the team later on in dev... but it's great to hear you are looking forward to the games completion, thanks!
