This week I worked on implementing the Tribehome for the next milestone of Alone.

So this week I started work on Tribehome. There’s still a very large amount of work to be done, but I will take this opportunity to explain what it is exactly.

As part of the main story changes for the mid to late game, the player character will gradually save, free, and unite the shattered tribes that have taken refuge (or are held in servitude) on the islands. Each tribe thus saved will add a blood brother to the list available for assignment – but what about the actual tribe ?

This new feature gives them a place to live – and gives the player somewhere to visit. The Tribehome can be accessed through the exploration crossroads (same one you’d normally use to go hunting), and this’ll open up a new map with a village which slowly builds up as you save more people and build upgrades.

There’s still a ton of work to be done – but for now, we can take a look at a couple of the buildings I’m working on at the moment, the Clanhall and the plaza.

The map can be interacted with similarly to your home area, but you can’t harvest resources or anything similar. Later on there will be tribespeople wandering around you can talk to, trade with, or which might offer specific services.

Next week I will work on adding even more buildings, and implement the actual village generation.
