Adventure Craft is a procedurally generated top down multiplayer adventure game inspired by games like Terraria, Starbound and Minecraft.

Post news Report RSS ADVENTURE CRAFT: Goblin Gangs and Loot Farming Probabilities!

Hi! We have developed some great tools for setting up how loot drops for farming materials and I get beat up by a gang of goblins! And some pictures!

I'm excited to start another week working on Adventure Craft. Lots of fun things have been going into the game and I find myself fighting to control the length of my playtesting sessions when I am trying to work. And that's a very positive thing!

Loot Probability Control

The game and the tools that we are creating to make Adventure craft are becoming more robust everyday. Last week I spent a lot of time setting up how gathering materials works. I can now set a destructible object to drop multiple types of loot, give a probability to each loot as well and control how much loot is dropped depending on what tool is being used. If you played Minecraft then you know that you get more loot from a tree faster by using an axe to chop it down rather than your bare hands.

We have decided to expand on this idea by creating a probability system that takes damage and what type of tool is being used. So if you hit a tree with a wooden axe you do more damage to the tree and get more loot but if you use an iron axe, you do a bit less damage overall but get more logs. Objects can also now resist damage from certain weapons. Hitting a tree with a sword does less damage and gives less loot. The goal here is to be able to make gathering fun and make sense, as well as creating creative and fun ways to get materials from various objects.

More Wacky Behavior Stuff

We also have been continuing our work on the character behavior system.

In an area of the forest where the mushroom men live I was just walking by and I saw a gang of green mushroom men all piled up attacking what I assumed was a red mushroom man that had wandered into their territory. Business as usual.

I continued on and wandered into a very large goblin camp and ended up aggro-ing a TON of goblins. I decided to run but they caught up to me and killed me. RUN little bird!

The bird didn't run in time. He should have flown off when he saw what happened to me.

So I re-spawned myself and decided to get revenge with one of the axes in my inventory but...

The way that the enemies gang up on a foe and continue to bash it after its dead makes them look really mean. I think I will add some values to the behavior system that lets me control how long a character will attack a dead body. Could be really cool for predator and creepy monster stuff.

Looks great! Is the gif speed similar to the game or is it sped up? Can't wait for more updates!

Thanks! I didn't speed up the gif. But it does look like it came out at a slightly lower frame rate.
