Develop Your Planets
Develop your outposts as best you can. These are the mining stations on worlds with a rich supply of resources. From here, raw materials are sent back to your homeworld where you can make use of them in your research, or production. These outposts are your key assets to help you grow, but they need to be defended. If left unguarded, they will surely fall into the hands of others. This is when you will need to start working together with the other players in the game.
Cooperate with others
AD2460 provides a unique system of interaction between players, and a functional system for working together in alliances, where players work together towards common goals, share wealth and take on group challenges in order to enrich the alliance both with resources and technologies. The game also provides an alliance with ways to improve the alliance itself, giving permanent bonuses to all alliance members.
Choose Your Technology
In AD2460 you can choose to specialise within one of three technologies; InTech, StronTech and NeoTech. Each technology has certain advantages, and comes with a distinct set of possible ships to develop and build.
InTech specialise in being heavy, tough and accurate in a fight. All research and development within the InTech specialisation deals with modifying the physical properties of materials. The InTech specialisation also deals with advanced engineering and construction with these materials. The key element for this technology is Indium, from which it also takes its name.
StronTech has an advantage when it comes to pure damage output and ship shielding. StronTech gets its name from the element is is most reliant upon: Strontium.StronTech specialists rely heavily on shielding for protection, and ships built to accommodate this technology are usually built around the needs of its energy-related components rather than practicality, and this gives these ships a distinct look. Non-symmetrical, or angled, and sometimes sleek are words often used to describe these ships.
NeoTech are the most agile ships, and have a lot of special effects on hand. NeoTech specialists are the masters of the manipulation of gravitational and magnetic fields. This technology is perhaps the most obscure, as it deals with mostly exclusively invisible elements in the universe. It is nevertheless an extremely powerful technological direction, since it works around the manipulation of space itself.NeoTech takes its name from the most essential building block for any field modification devices: Neodymium.
Create Your Fleet
Fully customisable fleets of ships give a full range of possibilities in battles. Capital ships are the basis of all battles, and there are many types to develop in AD2460 within the three technology types. Capital ships also carry fighter squadrons with them, and you can select what types of ships to fill your fleet with, giving a wealth of freedom to set up your ideal fleet. Give your fleet a commander with a personality, set up your tactical dispositions and develop solid strategies to take down your opponents. It's not only about having the most ships any more. It's about how well you use the ships you have.
If you've read this far, we're sure you might want more details on the game, so we are listing many of the cool features of AD2460 for you below.AD2460 Features:
AD2460 has, since it's initial launch in December 2014, steadily been expanded with more content and functionality. This has been well-received by the user-base, and further additions are already planned for the game. As a subscription-based game, AD2460 has not had the anticipated user growth needed for an entertaining MMO. Fifth Season is now launching 'Patch 7', which will add a lot of new content to the game, but most importantly, it turns the game into a free-to-play game.
After the patch the subscription cost will be removed and all active game accounts prior to the patch will no longer be charged daily subscription cost.
Fifth Season has always been very clear in their stance against "pay-to-win" so even though the game now goes “free-to-play” it will have no elements of “pay-to-win”. The elements one can spend money on will all be based around added fun and customization. Such features include facial and graphical commander elements, placing bounties on your opponents and "War-Games" where you can challenge opponents for practice or fun without risking losing your fleets. It is anticipated that all of these features will be expanded upon throughout future patches as well.
Along with the patch itself, the main signup page for the game has undergone a complete overhaul, making it a lot easier for new players to get a good overview of what AD2460 is all about before signing up.

Fifth Season also practically invented the sci-fi web-strategy genre when it launched the hugely popular Planetarion in 2001. At its height, it had about 180.000 players, which for its time was a massive amount for any web-game Most other games in the genre out there, are direct descendants of that particular game.
Fifth Season is located in Oslo, Norway and has been creating and running online games for over a decade. The company's current running-game, ManagerLeague, an online football management game, is currently celebrating 10 years online, and still going strong!
