0 A.D. is a free, open-source, cross-platform real-time strategy (RTS) game of ancient warfare. It's a historically-based war/economy game that allows players to relive or rewrite the history of twelve ancient civilizations, from Iberia to Mauryan India, each depicted at their peak of economic growth and military prowess. Developed using Pyrogenesis, a ground-breaking new game engine custom-built to suit this project, 0 A.D. will give players a rich and entertaining real-time gaming experience.

I love everything in this picture except for the texture on the castle parts. Is this an in-game shot, because the water looks amazing!

Thanks for your nice comments (and everyone elses of course). The "castles" are supposed to be painted wood, and when you know that and think about it a bit I personally think it's good. I won't try to make you like it though, one detail out of so many is good in any case :-)

This is practically an in-game shot. What I mean by that is that it (unless I'm mistaken) is taken in the scenario editor (Atlas), but since Atlas is closely connected with the rest of the game, and uses the same code for displaying things etc, it would look the same in-game.

Description

This Roman ship is of the Quinquireme class of warships -- the largest class of ship in the game. It will be able to hold more troops and siege engines than a Trireme class ship and have other additional features. Model by EmjeR.
