Monday - Playthrough - Between Empires
Most Warband mods remain in the medieval period, or at least focus on primitive warfare - swords, shields, muskets if you're lucky. However, Between Empires takes a different approach, letting technology evolve over a period beginning in the late 1800s, and later matching the tactics and strategy that emerged running up to World War 1.
Classic shooters have been experiencing a rebirth in recent years, with the "boomer shooter" genre now a favourite for indies and larger studios alike. Dread Templar is one such throwback action game with an emphasis on stylised retro graphics and kickass iconic gunplay. It's everything old made new again, and covered in a blood-soaked sheen.
Half-Life mods have touched upon everything from comedy, to bombastic action, to heart-felt stories - but one of the most classic genres for which they're known is horror, and in a crowded scene, some stand taller than others. Afraid of Monsters is a name known - and feared - by many, and stands the test of time as some truly eerie stuff.
