Correct! And you'll also be able to make use of the online functionality!
What are the online functionalities of the game?
At the moment, you can claim locations for yourself (so people will always know who was the first person to discover it) and a second one which is being kept secret. It's in the game, it's active, and people are juuuust starting to figure it out, but for now it's being kept hush hush. We have plans for about 10 more features, too, including leaving notes for people, a black market where people can buy and sell gear between characters and more!

Just a heads up: I got a warning from Avira that this contains malware. According to the game's forums Avira is the only antivirus program that gives this warning, making this a false positive! (That and I doubt the devs would do anything like that ;) )
Hmm... That's concerning. We did several scans of all of the files using both McAfee and Avast to ensure that they were clean!

What a huge step... where do we send bugs and errors?

I am really liking the game, but I've been having some performance issues. I don't know if it's my PC because I can run all current gen games, and I don't get any drops in frame rate unless I turn up the graphics to maximum. I have all the setting set down, but the game still loses frame rate. Is this something to be fixed in the future?
Most people playing it seem to have no problems... We will be doing optimizations as time goes on, though! We're on an eternal quest to make it run better and faster :)
I can't wait! I'm very excited for this game.
I'm having a few minor performance issues. Loading the next area seems to happen more often. And it just seems a little slow all together, but I know its a Beta release... so I'm not whining about it.
My specs:
Windows 7 32-bit
Intel Pentium D 3.0 Ghz
2 Gigs of RAM DDR2 667
GeForce 8800

The loading next area will always happen at the same rate. The world gets loaded in chunks. Check out the minimap in the corner of the screen. The red borders show the edges of a world chunk, and it will load the new area each time you cross them :)
As for performance, you can go into the config screen on the game's launcher and fiddle around in there. Doing things such as disabling shadows or lowering the detail level will increase performance.
In addition, fairly soon we're going to be adding a new optimization mode to the game which will allow it to be played without DirectX Shaders. It'll give the game more of an old-school look and also run it about 8x faster!
