To celebrate one year in production I am proud to release to you guys the version 1.0 of Duke Theft Auto that was only given to a handful of selected people when it came out about 5 months ago. Now is your chance to try Duke Theft Auto for yourself.
Note: This will now be the only official released version of Duke Theft Auto
1.0 is completely standalone and does not require Duke Nukem to play it.
Things that should be noted are:
* There is only one map that can be played on correctly.
* There is only two missions in that map which can bug out sometimes.
* Police cars tend to drive fast and clip through other cars.
* Driving physics are next to none. :(
You need OpenAL installed also or else you will have no music and missing sound effects, if you are unsure what OpenAL is or if you don't know if you have it installed follow this link.

People who are using Intel video cards will most likely be unable to play this as Eduke32 black lists Intel cards due to poor OpenGL support. There is not much that I can do about this I am afraid. (Buy a Nvidia or ATI card)
Multiplayer mode is very buggy and will most likely chrash or go out of sync.

2) INSTALLATION

You must have Administrator privileges to install and play Duke Theft Auto. If you are unsure about how to achieve this, please consult your Windows system manual.
- Launch the DUKE THEFT AUTO.EXE program.
- Select the INSTALL option to run the installer.
- Agree to the License Agreement.
- Choose the install location:-
by default we use "C:\Program Files\Commander Productions\Duke Theft Auto"
- Once Installation has finished, you will be returned to the Launch Menu.
- If you do not have OpenAL installed on your PC, then we suggest
going to Connect.creativelabs.com and downloading OpenAL from there

Q: Why does everything look black when I launch Duke Theft Auto and I only see a few textures?
A: Duke Theft Auto needs to be run in 32bit Polymost mode. It will not run in 8bit/software mode.
Q: Why am I missing sound effects or don't hear any music when I am in cars?
A: You don't have OpenAL installed which is required to play certain sound files correctly.

Hard to kill the first boss
Other than that, great game
Strafe and shoot him, his bullets will only go in a straight line (obviously)
Had a few people say that hes a bit hard now, in the final version you will be able to run him over. (that takes no skill though lol)
but where do i get a gun?? lol
Punch or run over the boxes on the foot paths or go to the ammunation on the far corner of the map when you have enough points.

hmm you can listen to the tracks with an OGG player or convert them to mp3's.. (If CommanderNZ allows that :P)
btw you can add your own tracks converting mp3's into OGG and then renaming to the needed file(s)... ;]
Yes, you can rename any of your own .ogg files and replace them with the ones in the game (will need the same file name)
.mp3s will not work in Eduke32, only supports midi (which doesn't work in the cars any how), WAV and .ogg)
Does this game run on Linux without wine?
I don't know to much about Linux myself, though I would think you need to go to the Eduke32.com website and download the source code and compile it?

I just dl the game. Hope it plays on my 1.7ghz p4 w/ATI Radeon 9200 256 mb on this card w/512 mb system ram. I can try it, I guess.....
And it looks like it will run ok, but cant get my joystick to work, yet.

I've got this baby running sweet for a while now, controllers and all! I did'nt think it would run so well on my rig. But I just cant get past the 3rd mission. The arrow points me to drive the tanker in areas that I cant go. Probably real obvious, but I haven't found it yet! If this mod sucked, I wouldn't give a crap. But its great and I want to play more!

I would suggest posting a lot more info, like your computer specs, video, ram, os etc. If you "end up getting a...well...its kinda hard to explain" problem, along with "basically, it don't work for me" explaination, then Basically, no one can help you without knowing whats wrong. How could they? Thats kinda hard!

When i start the game it freezes up then says duke 3d has encountered a problem. Am I doing something wrong? I have duke3d and when I start the game I have it on 32 bpp. Please i need help!!!!!!!!!

Doesn't work on Windows 7 32 bit. The Radioactive symbol pops up then it gets lines through it and the screen goes black.
