Currently our team is based around the world – predominantly in the United States and Europe. We are entirely self-funded by each employee working 100% for free with whatever time they can spare during the week. Most of our team members are dedicated to seeing this game through to the end of development, nevertheless. Many of our developers have been working with us for years, while some have been brought in over the past year as we began development on the Cepheus Protocol.

Currently, we are organizing our crew based on departments, which you would find in many AAA game studios: Art, design, modeling, animation, sound, music, VO, level design, etc. A handful of our developers acts as leads for these divisions, with some acting as leads in multiple disciplines based on their knowledge and talents. Overall, there are five primary leads that handle most of the team and game development split between Pre-Production and Post-Production. As for actual funding, any expenses are paid for by Robert Smith, out of pocket.

I also want to mention that we are an extremely organized and capable team even with so many team members from around the world of various backgrounds, ages, languages, and levels of experiences, from team members who have worked in the industry with AAA studios, to students just out of school, and modders looking to be professional developers, including people of limited knowledge but a passion to succeed. We host weekly meetings among all team members each Sunday at 11 am PST, leads meetings on Sundays as well, development meetings between the various departments, and collaboration meetings for people wanting to work together with other developers on the team at the same time. All of this accomplished on Discord, with a few of our team members having met in real life. We also use Zoho to track our progress, while the leads will also get together on very short notice to review work. On Discord, we encourage collaboration and communication between each team member as they share work, discuss ideas, debate game concepts and features, or just chat as friends, stream movies for all to watch, or play the latest multiplayer game as to maintain team cohesion. This is something we are all very proud of and is a major factor for why we’ve been as successful as we have.
