The F/A-22E is a production aircraft based off the YF-22 frame. While looking the same as the YF-22 outside the F/A-22E has increased thrust and an avionics package taken from the X-16S into its new airframe.

During there exodus from Edwards AFB, one pilot decided to take off with an YF-22 disignated as 87-0700 from the base to Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. Knowing how important of what they had in there hands, the Confederate government gave Southern States Munitions Factory the right to mass produce 87-0700 into the CSAAF's main air superiority fighter.
