This is an article about the development of the game N'keady. This first article (1 of 3) exposes the current state of the development and what inspired us to do this project.

Hi there! This is the first of three articles about a game called N'keady, and it is currently being produced by our team.

N'keady is a project inspired by one of the comic books stories from the series Arzach by Jean Giraud, also known as Moebius. This author was known by his no-dialog stories which focused more on actions and the world of each story itself.

This product is being developed in GB Studio, and so the art will be made in pixel-art with an amplified pallet.

Our goal for this project is to be able to tell an interesting and intriguing game that transcribes the essence of Arzach and Moebius unique and descriptive style.

In this first week, our team has been working on ideas for the game itself based on the comic book story mentioned earlier. So far, we got:

  • Some people are being isolated in pyramids far from society, in a world where a disease is transmitted that changes their colour to green and over time they are transformed into monsters. A lone Adventurer is called to find a machine capable of stopping this mysterious disease from progressing.
  • When trying to reach the machine, the Adventurer finds himself surrounded by these monsters that attack him without mercy. To reach the objective, the traveller must dodge the threats until he can enter the control room.
  • By entering the room after repairing the machine it is possible to launch the antidote to reverse the mysterious disease.
