The backstory and comments about worldbuilding and lore.

Morticians Macabre will have worldbuilding and deep lore for players to explore, but it won’t be hand fed to you. I plan on taking a page out of dark souls and elden ring, letting in game items and npcs, as well as the physical world itself, give the player their glimpses of the worlds lore.

The game takes place within the plague ridden city of Lindor. You play as a member of the Morticians Guild, someone who specializes in hunting down and killing Undead creatures. You have been sent there to investigate the Plague that has resulted in the undead Plagueborn, once humans who have been reborn as zombie like fanatics with visions of the end of the world. They have taken over the city and the inhabitants that survived the plague and the Plagueborn are hiding away barricaded within hotels and factories.

The Church Fathers who are the de facto rulers of the city have ordered the doors of Mother Church barricaded to outsiders, sparking suspicion in the Morticians that they may have much to hide and more to answer for.

The answers you seek are hidden deep, away from the light of day where sin breeds sin and the Gods look away.
