Hey, guys! I got the great news for you.

I just recently updated Galactempest to version 1.1 by adding the compatibilities of the Game Jolt API with login feature, achievements and online leaderboards, making some frames skippable with keys and joystick and game pad buttons, and other important ideas I have for improving this project. After doing that for a couple of days or weeks, this version has finally released and will eventually encourage those who downloaded the original version of this game to update it into the latest version by replace the contents of the previous version (v. 1.0) via the installation program last Tuesday. With the Game Jolt API added, you may sign in your Game Jolt account using your username and your game token in order to unlock achievements and submit your high score to one of the four difficulty levels' leaderboards using the Game Jolt client.

Since its first release on March 20, 2023, Galactempest is originally built for mobile devices as Android version. I tried to submit the APK file of this game to the Google Play Console, but it now only accepts the Android App Bundle (AAB) files since the file extension itself replaced the APK publishing in 2021. So I decided to move on to the PC version and publish it to Game Jolt, Itch, and Indie DB instead.

Anyway, for those who need to know about the features of this version of Galactempest, it contains the following improvements here:

  • Improved some frames to be skippable by adding the conditions of pressing the keys or buttons of each input device.

  • Added the Game Jolt application programming interface (API) similar to the games using the Steamworks API.

  • Added the Game Jolt sign in function.

  • Added more achievements of this game.

  • Added the online leaderboards via the Game Jolt client.

  • Fixed the programming conditions of change name, Game Jolt login, and options sections.

So you got them? And do you like this version of a game? If you do not have Galactempest in your PC, then go to this game's page and download it from either Game Jolt or Itch as a digital version. If you already have it, then update it by replacing the files from the previous version (V. 1.0) with those of the latest version (V. 1.1). However, do not forget to fund it with money from your PayPal account first since it is specifically licensed as a donationware game upon its first release with version 1.0 on March 20, 2023.

Now let's move on to the physical retail version of Galactempest. Last Tuesday, I have started making a PC DVD-ROM cover art for the physical retail copy of this game from the template I used as a scratch. If you want to see the full cover, then I show it to you below.

How do you like this PC DVD-ROM cover art for the game? Let me know yours in the comments.

Once the digital manual of this game is finished, I will burn the blank DVDs, print the copies of the PC DVD-ROM cover art (shown above), and make the DVD copies from the blank DVD covers so that I can sell the physical copies of Galactempest to promote the game and its core mechanics, inspired by the classical arcade video games from the late 1970s to early 1980s. Aside from the retail copies of this game, I also have a plan to print blank shirts with PSONIC Studios logos and artworks from Galactempest, including its title. These will help me boost sales as merchandises by PSONIC Studios.

I hope you will enjoy playing Galactempest for its interesting arcade video game mechanics, and have fun with it. Thanks for reading!
