8 Years of Game Dev, 2 Years of Full-Time Solo
Oh my goodness, can you believe it? It's been almost eight years! But, let me tell you, it's been quite the journey. And I mean wow, man, what a journey. Back then, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. But, like any beginner indie dev, I was passionate about my craft, and determined to create something I could be proud of.
Over the years, I've learned much about game development, game business, digital marketing, the gaming industry, and myself. Yep, it was a rollercoaster ride, filled with moments of triumph and those, you know...of defeat. But through it all, I've never lost my passion and dedication.
Mirror Forge Changed it All
And now, after the release of my latest indie horror game, Mirror Forge, I can honestly say that all the hard work and dedication have been worth it. The support I've received from the horror community, streamers, content creators, and journalists has been overwhelming. It's humbling to see so many people enjoy something that I've poured my heart and soul into. But, I'm not one to rest on my laurels. No, I'm already knee-deep in not one, but two new projects! Yay!
The first project is an experimental survival horror with 100% procedural, randomized elements, shooting, puzzle-solving, everchanging levels, and pure horror.
The second project is a stylized fantasy RPG with quite a metaphorical twist. I decided to explore some dark ages of humanity's past, researching a lot and trying to at least understand how particular people felt during those days of history.
2nd Full-Time Game Dev
And, I'm not working on these games alone. That's right, I've hired another full-time indie game developer to join me on this journey. No longer a solo dev, guys! It's exciting to have someone else to bounce ideas off of, to share the workload, and to collaborate with to create something truly special.
Of course, game development is never easy. It's a constant uphill struggle against time, resources, and unforeseen challenges. But, I'm confident that with the right team, the right mindset, and the right attitude, we can create something that we will be proud of.
So, there you have it. Eight years in the making, and my indie game development journey is far from over. Stay tuned for more updates on these new projects. Who knows what the future holds, but one thing is for sure – it's going to be one wild ride.
