Has the black spaces of the map been fixed since I have not played this in a while and I am just wondering if it has been fixed.

You will have to wait until an update comes because of the recent update for the save converter.

I have the same problem as you but the main it is better to just wait since the update for the EU4 save converter between Crusader kings 2 and EU4; its best to just wait since the mod and even game of thrones mod will just crash in the loading screen.
