Description

14th December 1941 - Operation Typhoon, With Winter now at the German's feet, Operation Barbarossa entered the standstill stage however Hitler raged to his generals that Moscow had to be taken before 1942, so the Germans initiated Operation Typhoon - The follow up to Barbarossa.

The Operation was to conduct a pincer move and encircle Moscow, however due to the heavy snow and mud the Germans were unable to move quick enough around the battlefield, during this time Russian reinforcements arrived from the East. Operation Typhoon was a failure - The Germans were unable to capture Moscow before 1942, and by the 5th January 1942 the Russians counter attacked pushing the Germans from the doorstep of Moscow
