WingedPixel - - 42 comments @ Heroes of a Broken Land is Released!

If you find any bugs you can email andrew@wingedpixel.com or post on wingedpixel.com/forum

I do check the Desura comments, but I don't get emails or anything when people post so it's easy to miss

For fullscreen you should be able to just click on the fullscreen button on the top right corner of the window. You can also hold down the option key when you open the game, that should give you a resolution select menu.

Hmm, I didn't notice it when playing on my macbook, but I'll double check! (but I do most development on PC, and only test on the Mac)

Glad you're liking the finished product! I really enjoyed watching you play my game, let me know if you give it another playthrough!

Sorry you've been unlucky enough to encounter this issue. This is a known bug but it has been difficult to reproduce and fix - it seemingly randomly occurs when exiting a dungeon. I really really, really want to fix it, but have had great difficulty reproducing it (and I've tried a lot!). Sorry!

Yes, the lack of emails is annoying. I haven't seen the issue you described either, even after some repro tests, so I'm going to just pretend it never happened.

Weird, I'll keep an eye open for the player selection being off entering dungeons.
Thanks for the report

No worries, you're not the first person to mention the world scrolling acting strange, so I'll investigate. Yeah, the tutorial text has been like that since I first added it, it's on my fix list.

Just wait and see :)

Nothing game ending...

You can't build new towns, but there are neutral towns in the world you can befriend and then control.

Could you describe (if you remember) exactly what happened with the patcher?

It could be a ligitimate bug. Which version do you have? The latest version should show all the switches in your automap, so you can be certain. Plus don't forget for secret doors. If it's still looking broken, you can email me your save game (andrew@wingedpixel.com), and I can check it out.

Wingedpixel.com is where most of that kinda discussion happens.

I haven't made a road-map posting in a while, I probably should

Yes, anyone who's purchased the game can get a key if they want.
I usually ask for a proof of purchase (like a copy of the recipt).

Not yet, I'll add a binding in the next release.

It will be called game_0.game (for Slot 0, game_1.game for slot 1, etc).

If your game is installed to your Program Files folder then (unfortunately) you'll find the save games in here (I need to fix this in a later version):
C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\
Program Files (x86)\Heroes of a Broken Land\

The last folder (Heroes of a Broken Land) will match whatever folder you installed inside your main Program Files folder. (I hope that makes sense)

Yeah, a message makes sense. I'll add one.

I tried the quick save/load in a multi party dungeon and it seems to work fine, so yeah, let me know if you have that problem again.

There's no message log yet, I've been planing to add one for a while now. One day!

Thanks for purchasing the game! If you want a Desura key, send me an email (andrew@wingedpixel.com) with your Gamersgate profile name and I can send you a key.

The game has an auto-update feature, so you will get a notice when the game is updated whatever service you are using.

Your video is cool! No idea what you're saying, but thanks for checking out the game!!

I'll look into the resolution issue. I'm sure there's something I can do to fix that aspect ratio.

The rat plague is meant to be a "big" event - rare but difficult - so consider yourself luck :)!

Are you playing the Web demo or the downloadable demo? The web demo cannot transfer save games :( But the downloadable demos can, you just have to copy your *.game files (or instally to the same folder)

The rat plague is probably the most difficult event you can encounter. It probably does need to be toned down a bit.

I'll add some quick save/load key bindings. (F5 & F7 or something)

Maybe making the disks different colours would help?

For multi-party dungeons bring 2 parties to the same dungeon then enter as normal. You can create new parties at your town hall.

Rat plague should have created a quest in your quest log. Find and destroy the rat nests.

You get new towns by doing quests for them, walk over them with a party and interact like a dungeon.

For the Demo, yes.

The full game doesn't have those restrictions.

Before the final version? It's not very likely I'll fit in a new class by then...

There are some new events that cause monster attacks, is that what's happening?

Either way I'll take yoru input into consideration! Monsters will need tweaking.

Yeah, that's the only way.
I'll add a quit button to the settings menu too, since that's what people expect.

Somehow my upload got corrupted, strange. Should be fixed now. The Desura version should go up today sometime.

It seems the demo download from the website hasn't updated yet.

If you use the Desura client or get it from my website (http://wingedpixel.com/heroes-of-a-broken-land) it will be the latest version.

Not sure what you mean HenryT77. Has the game stopped working for you? Or did you get confused by the autodownload? (You need to extract the zip yourself)
