Podcast 17 did a let's play of this:
Yea man... more advertising... this moddb profile is just a wall of **** anyway.
Podcast 17 will be interviewing Rumple and James this Saturday at 1PM EST... check out Podcast17.com on how you can tune in.
Yay!! Shameless plug.
We will certainly ask what the reason was for the delay. I asked rumple about 20 hours ago when it was going to be released he said 16 hours so they are 4 hours late.

Why can't you talented people make something full of rainbows and sunshine? Why must you torture me, I loose sleep, that one day I will have to play this.
I think it would be fantastic if we could see a video of the first entrance scene -- without giving too much of the story away. I am in love with this little robot.
Loved the image from the third art pass. Mappers and developers often forget that their maps/worlds aren't simply boxes and need to think of the world outside their map. One prime example of this is Portal 2 vs. Portal 1. Portal 1 was too closed, a series of boxes strung together by corridors and smaller boxes. This is what your original garage map was, and what the EP1 garage section is. The third art pass brought out the world outside the garage and is better for it.
With projects like these though you can reach a sort of perfectionist attitude which I caution against. Every art pass is going to be better than the previous because as an artist you are gaining more experience and understanding your environment better. And because of this after every art pass you can be left with a feeling that "You can do better"... don't get stuck in this infinite rut. Sometimes enough is enough :P That's not to say the third art pass wasn't needed, because it most certainly was, but now I see City17 as not only an improvement on Source, but on itself as well. Don't let that go too far.
I hated that stupid stock HL2 debris model, you saw it EVERYWHERE -- in HL2 and mods. I'm tired of it. Glad you guys are doing your own thing and with positives to boot.
I'm not sold on the water effects yet. They seem too large, too blurry and too active. It seems like the dynamicness of your water is battling the staticness of the map around it. Where the water starts and the world begins has too much contrast. Perhaps it looks better in game, but the blurry effect doesn't match the sharp textures. I have always been amazed by Dear Esthers water effects, I think it's the best the industry has seen. It's amazing how well they blend the water and the world around it, the two seem.... seamless. If you could work on anything from this post it's definitely the water -- still though it's an improvement from source, then again that's not very hard to do.
So glad to be seeing more City17 news. I really thought you guys had gone under... certainly relieved.
This mod is definitely MOTY. You liked parts of the music, release an OST -- more exposure, more votes, more winning.
You're going to need A LOT more than just that to satisfy the gamers interests. As stated previously, the voice acting is terrible and inaudible; that needs to go. Map seems too claustrophobic too... try opening it up a bit take some queues from Portal and Portal 2, vast spaces that seem to bleed into infinity. I do like the use of the dynamic music though -- try to create your own instead of using Morasky's
Would have been really fantastic if the soundtrack piece was a bit longer so we could listen while we read. I found it fitting for the text.
I enjoyed the extra pages to the manual, but would have liked to read about more exploits of each department.
Nic a couple of comments down is from P17 too.
Please add me - I'm from Podcast 17!!
Podcast 17 as an official affiliate! Sounds good to me.
10 years? It took 3 years for ep2 to come out after halflife... so more like... 140 years.
Hey! I'm in there... getting owned :(
Oh good call - yea we need JailBreak! I hate how there are multiple mods there. urgh.
I think this is a good comparative to the PP community. Both ModDB and PP serve the community equally, but they have two different purposes. This is a great poll
Just because people aren't playing it doesn't make it a failure. The game is pretty solid and patch 2.0 will be pretty good imo. Tune in this week to hear the full story.
We used to do that, but then we found that it cluttered the moddb post and fewer people really wanted to listen to the show. We figure those people who want to see the extended show notes won't mind clicking an extra link in another window to read them. I hope this isn't too much of an inconvenience... maybe I can put one of those "more+" links that expand and contract for convenience. Hmm... /me has an idea.
I do hate doing the moddb posts, but only out of my own laziness :P I do however see the incredible value to them - which is why I'm about to do this weeks!
We are gonna have another follow-up about that question this week hehe.
Hehe yea sorry that was my fault. I entirely forgot about this episode due to final exams.
Unfortunately as it stands it is policy for us to link all the mods we talk about since we are an official moddb podcast. I am currently working with Henley (Dave Traeger) to fix this issue - we know it's bothering a lot of people. Apologies.
