2016 nearing it's end, I wonder if people still playing HL2 mods? (I haven't in over 10 years myself :/ And if so are people still interested in a mod like Off Limits? Depending on the number of replies to this post I guess we'll decide whether to finish a final build and release it sometime soon. If not I would say thanks to everyone for the support over all these years!

Life happened. Maarten and myself worked on "Amnesia: A machine for Pigs". Later I moved to California to work on "The Order: 1886" and Maarten has still been working for The Chinese Room on their next upcoming title "Everybody's gone to the rapture". As for Off Limits. We did a lot of internal playtests back in 2008 and 2009 after I finished my work on "Mirror's Edge". The game was a lot of fun to play and apart from some gameplay fixes the game was pretty much final. Funny you posted this comment because I spoke with Maarten last week if he would be interested in finalizing this game and doing another "proper" final release for it. Mainly to see our hard work online as we intended it to be all these years later. We're just not sure what, who or where would be the best place to release this today and to get the word out to as many people as possible to still get some people to play it all these years later. But honestly we would release it for ourselves most of all, to close this chapter. But I do want to play this again myself honestly. Fingers crossed.

You could have made the material smaller and yet much higher rez. You can just take 1 cross section and make it seamless instead of making a whole netting in the material. I uploaded an image of what I mean:

haha, that must have been a scary moment... I know some guy bought it in Cali somewhere? I think he sold it again now... not sure where it is now.. This truck and the Convoy truck are two very cool trucks :)

Yes we are still alive, we need to fix some code issues before we can release the next update and before we can revive our servers. Sadly we don't have a dedicated programmer at the moment who has time to fix these issues. Maarten will look at them once his schedule clears up a bit. Most likely next year. So we still don't have a final release for this mod yes, but we are quite close. It's all in the hands of a programmer at this point.

That's up to the 1500 visits we got in 1 day ... ;) It's funny how we get 1500 visits and yet the servers are hard to fill.. Hopefully this new release will have a better release and also hopefully people won't give up after a night of playing it. You can't expect a mod to have full servers from the start, people need to go on one and have some patience for it to fill. We're not TF2 or CS :/

I didn't. I grew up in and around huge milling factories and also been in quite a few harbors as well. I live in a great area for all of this. My dad has his own construction company so I pretty much bring all the stuff I've seen as I grew up into my levels. I used simple soundscapes, inside/oudeside. I had the error already MAX_CHANNELS so I needed to simplify them. I think they are well enough and won't play a huge role once people are playing them. Focus lies on game play and having a fun time playing the mod. The vents and oil pumps still have their own unique sounds and some electrical cabins as well.

We will look into this and hopefully it will be completely free. Meaning, You will be able to just download the Source SDK and this mod. We're not sure if this will work yet. Haven't looked into it yet.

Russia: 38 minutes, 14 seconds elapsed
Styx: 1 hour, 7 minutes, 11 seconds elapsed
Undersiege: 1 hour, 9 minutes, 59 seconds elapsed
This is with:

I made a news post explaining it, but it takes a while for it go live. It's Undersiege, an updated version of it. The old one was too big and had areas in it which didn't have much action. Now it's all closer together (still huge) and also fixed the layout so vehicles area easier to navigate through it. News post should be up today I hope.

I've been working on the mod for the past 3 months every day. IF you read some news posts you'd know we are a 2 man dev team. I've just finished our final level and I will post an update soon. We are working on the final release as well. But we do have other stuff to do apart from working on a free mod. We have bills to pay ;)

There will be walkways up on the side of the ship as well (like in the previous version). This is mainly for vehicles to pass. And no I don't think it will be a choke point, it's better to compact the action in multiplayer games rather than to spread it out and have a boring experience playing it (depending on the multiplayer game type of course :) ).

Thanks for the comments, I just focused on the interior at this point. I'll start work on the exterior/containers one of the following days. I know they need some more work and I was planning what you said about extruding/placement :)

Well hopefully it wont look out of place in the final level. I'll have multiple ships scattered across the level. It's all companies inside a big shipping port. On the other side of the level is another ship with the central spawn point on it.
