I'm a college student studying video games and how to make them. I enjoy playing most kinds of games, and will hopefully soon enjoy making them as well.

NEED FOR MADNESS

Game review

This game has been on the internet for as long as I have been, and let me tell you: as a kid I spent countless hours ******* around with this awesome deathmatch racing game. It's a little glitchy at times, but totally worth a play. I'm so excited to hear that it's coming to the Desura platform. There's a sequel that came out recently on their own site, but just having this game available for download on my machine is such a cool thing.

Anodyne

Game review

This is a great little Zelda "clone". I hesitate to call it that, but as far as the basic mechanics go, I would say it's about accurate. You, Young, go around exploring the world, uncovering mysteries, fighting enemies and solving small puzzles. The aesthetics of this game are fantastic and the diologue ranges from dark humor to puns galore to deeply profound. The music is dynamic and relaxing. The only problem I have with the game is a lack of motivation or plot explanation. I feel plenty motivated to explore the world because I'm curious to see what it holds, but there's no real driving force behind it. No emotional attachment or impending goal. And what is given is weak and forgetable. While these driving forces are non-memorable, the same can not be said for the rest of the game. It's worth your time and your money.

Organ Trail: Director's Cut

Game review

I was never a huge fan of the idea of Oregon Trail. Whenever I did try it, I was quickly bored and frustrated. This game, however, takes the original ideas of Oregon Trail and updates them with a more relevant (to today's entertainment market) theme, a better interface, and a lot more fun than I can remember having with the original Oregon Trail. The controls are pretty good, and the gameplay is fun. It's got a healthy sense of humor, and a great retro feel. I would recommend this game to anyone.

Megabyte Punch

Game review

Reptile is doing wonderful things with this game. It's art style, music, and gameplay are all wonderfully mature for an alpha state game. It's 100% worth what they're asking for it right now, and I can only see this game's quality increase with promised bug fixes, new parts, levels, and other features on their way. Reptile has shown themselves to be attentive to the concerns of the community and I have faith that this final product will be a very memorable experience. There are problems, but that can only be expected of a game in alpha. If anything, this game exceeds my expectation of alpha games altogether.
