We host the patches on our site, and the game links there, which is why putting them on moddb is a fairly low priority. We did have an auto-patcher, but some bugs prevented it from working at the time. We may look into it again for the future.
We did forget to put one of the patches on moddb, but I don't want patches on our official pages that aren't official releases. If you want to see a patch hosted here, it is best to ask.

Please don't upload patches. Especially when we haven't even properly released one of the patches.
Looks like "C:/Program Files/Desura/Common/" (Or wherever you installed Desura).
Please ask for support on our forums, and include a more detailed report of what is occurring. Thank you.
You should not be changing the rules after having chosen a winner. That's an incredibly poor way to run a competition.
We've made the Top 100! Thank you, everyone who voted for us in the first phase. I hope we have your vote for Phase 2, and we can make the Top 10 as well!
You can drag-select objects, and singly interact with planets, I believe (we're still working on the feature, so it's not certain).
From 1.0.0.0, you need only install 1.0.1.8, 1.0.2.0, and 1.0.2.2.
We've been pretty busy recently (hardware failures), but we will try to put news here more often.
The demo cannot be patched, and you need to wait for Steam to update, patches aren't compatible with them.
It sounds like your build is messed up somehow. If you are running on Steam, their version of the patch was created improperly and is being reverted.
You cannot attack without declaring War, and currently pirates don't have ships.
The host needs to open a single port of their choice, default 12100.
We've improved the ambient lighting since this screenshot.
The ships are attacking the star intentionally, they're aiming to blow it up and render the system uninhabitable.
Ship AI should be advanced enough for most uses, so you'll be directing fleet movements, rather than the per-ship tactics during a battle.
We aren't currently expecting to be on the Steam platform, but we'll be contacting steam up and through release in an effort to reach an agreement with them.
1) $25 at release, and it's already available for pre-order for $19.95 at GamersGate.
2) Sorry, but I couldn't quite understand your question. You'll be able to model any ship you feel like in an external program, then load it into the game.
Yes, it's expected to be sold at around $20.
It wasn't too hard. I learned how Irrlicht worked in-depth alongside developing the game logic, and Irrlicht's design never caused any major issues in that time.
Pretty much. We simply don't have many machines to test on, so the minimum spec is just the worst machine that we've found that the game runs on well enough.
Star Ruler is already a fully 3D galaxy. Ships have full freedom of motion, as do planets, structure positioning, etc.
Just follow the instructions here: Starruler.blind-mind.com
We periodically accept a new wave of testers; it could be a few days or a few weeks before that happens.
I didn't pick the region of the file to render out, so it looped the audio track. I didn't notice until after uploading it here. Future videos will end at the right time.
Our graphics engine, Irrlicht, can load a variety of different model formats. The ones we've found work best so far are: .obj, .irrlicht, .3ds, and .x (although some exporters for .x use an incompatible version). Any modeling software that can export to those formats should work with our game.
Two of us on the team took some time to play SoaSE again the other day, and we generally agreed that portions of our graphics are at least as good, and sometimes better, than SoaSE, but there are also many areas we fall behind. There are still several months left in our original schedule before release, and we hope our graphics will, overall, surpass SoaSE at the time of release.
