US Legation faced the Russian Legation, and an up-to-date Mosin-Nagant M1891 (with 7.62×54mmR ammo, still in use) could arouse envy from a US Marine fitted, at best, only with a M1895 Lee Navy (with 6mm Lee Navy ammo).
