man, these retextures are a way better than the original! I was wondering why nobody has ever retextured these cartoonish, chaotic Nids skins...
Do you edit the UV too? cause the carrapace of the Carnifex is in ridiculously small resolution compared to the rest...
Thanks. I guess that's because texturing metalic stuff is easier than organic stuff. For metal that's just a matter of finding a good texture base and adding shadows and highlghts where needed. Most nids UV are not especially friendly to work with too. Lots of distortion which limits possibilities :( I had a very hard time just making the pointy parts of hormagaunts head plates for example. It is actually not modeled and split between 2 different parts of UV map. Making it seamless was time consuming for such small details but I want to make things as close as possible to real GW miniatures.
No UV edit (I wish I could) for Carnifex but it's clear that back plate is very small considering it is a big visible part of model. I suppose it's weapon variants/upgrades were all included on this texture before then removed. Which should explain this "strange" choice.
my texturer and brother, Enpremi, could tell you about how he dislikes making organic textures for my ships :D Shame you can´t edit the UV, but maybe you´ll watch some tutorials in the future to get rid of those chains limiting your work ;)
Have you completed more enhancements than just the previous two for DL? I have a wide variety of interesting team colors for the 'Nids you could check from the Epic legions mod.
Not yet but it always stay in a corner of my head which says 'Come on move your a*s and keep working on it'.
I've got some modeling knowledge too. I soon will try to make some new model for nids. They really need some new stuff.
I've talked with Lord Cylarne and he seems interested :)
