We saw both your video's Nice work and thank you! we hope your audience enjoyed them.
You can go here and download the launcher. that will then download and install the game automatically Interstellarrift.com
Thank you :)
This bug has been fixed as of version 0.0.24
The game is not an MMO, but your freelancer comparison is not far off. Players will be able to host their own servers for up to 64 players at launch and we hope even more later down the line. Severs will function in a similar fashion to how they did in freelancer, where the server will be persistent for as long as it is up or when the admins wipe it. so that means your character and all its assets etc. will be stored on the server.
There are currently no plans for a single player campaign but there will be semi story driven missions players can undertake in multiplayer.
There are plans but there are things we need to do first in order to make that happen. but once we can we will, we just don't know when that is. same goes for Linux support
At the moment its just visual but the way its intended to work is all your resources, items etc. are all stored in these boxes. so in the editor you'll place an empty cargo pad then later when your fill up your ships these boxes will start appearing on those pads. eventualy you'll also be able to fill containers with these boxes.
We update the demo every two weeks. next update is scheduled for September 2/3.
we have a test server up and running 24/7 so feel free to drop by and check out some of the ships people have made :) and ofcourse show off your own :)
we've had several reports of people's virus scanners interfering with the launcher during installation. Try turning your virus scanner off during installation.
Another thing you can try is running the game in admin mode.
We intend the keep the pre-alpha free so you guys can help us test. But eventually when enter the alpha stage of production we will start charging a small fee. No ETA on that either :P
due to the way we have had to code our engine. the breaking apart of ships won't be possible. this was the trade-off to having lag and twitch free walking on board ships as they are moving. so no breaking apart and deforming blocks but there will be battle damage and the likes. though think more along the lines of star trek battle damage. systems failing, corridors and rooms being lit on fire. loss off oxygen due to decompression. that sort of thing.
Yes it is on the list of features we are going to add. however i am unable to give you an ETA at this time as we are currently focusing on ironing out the bugs and kinks in the multiplayer and spaceflight features.
We will look into it. But our primary concern at the moment is getting the online multiplayer to a more functional state. But I'll pass it onto our tech team.
Rest assured that all the features you're looking for are coming. However I am unable to give you an eta since at the moment there are more pressing concerns such as getting the core features working as intended. We will optimize as much as we can in the meantime however. But for the moment graphical options are low on the priority list as a large portion of the game itself is not yet working as intended.
Yes we intend to add symmetry mode as wel as click and drag and several other quality of life changes to the editor. However I am unable to give an ETA at this time.
Yes it does! Any door that is connected to a power source will now open and close when you press E while standing in front of it.
Don't worry we have a plan do world building through things like this. Hurles Co. is an ingame corporation that supplies a ton of things, from ship parts to food etc. Each one of our 5 developers made their own Company within the game. Mine is Sentinel Civil Defense Force. Which is a private security force and weapons manufacturer.
while players make their own parts, the blueprint for those parts comes from the ingame companies :)
Don't give up hope just yet, we are planning to add in support for OpenGL 2 and 3 further down the line, but i can't give an ETA on that yet.
That is an error that is generally associated with an old video card that does not support OpenGL 4, can you tell us what card you are using?
Don't worry soon we'll enable players to choose their own colors for ship interiors and exteriors. decals and custom writing are a little bit further off though.
Right now we are focusing on Windows PC, but later down the line we do have plans for a Mac OSX and a Linux version.
maybe we should, but you can download our pre-alpha already. just no spaceflgiht yet. latest build is on the indiedb page :)
Thanks! i think i'll take you up on that :)
I'm currently working on Interstellar Rift Indiedb.com
Space games FTW!
keep up the good work man! I still think your space looks better than our space currently (I'm the guy behind the Split polygon twitter in case you're wondering :P)
Good to see you guys are still around :)
I hope everything works out with the gamespy thing.

It looks like you're missing .NET framework. Installing this should fix the problem. Microsoft.com
Prop mode will let you place furniture and smaller items. while room mode will let you actually create rooms. and decorate the walls, floors and ceilings.
It's not perfect yet but we'll working on ways so it makes more sense.
