Game Review on Feb 24th, 2012

This mod sent chills through my spine, unsettled me, and captivated me from start to finish.

The consistent dreadful and lonely atmosphere, highly improved graphics and engine enhancements (over what comes with the old base game Half Life), varied and top notch mood setting music, and really impressive animations really suck you into the interesting story and make you feel like you're in the protagonist's shoes. I really felt like I was lost in a city, lonely, scared (obviously haha), and trying to get home. I wanted to get home and I cared about what happened to the protagonist because he's a believable character that you can relate to. The forest portion of the game is a really unique experience that I don't remember other horror games ever doing quite so well. There is a beautiful distinct style to this mod that the developers should be commended for.

The gameplay is a bit old school at times and can get boring to some. Combining that with the inventory system and puzzles, however, you sort of have a nostalgic charm to the game. Add this to the last paragraph, this game feels a like a cross between the gameplay of Half Life, the dark style Max Payne, and and the puzzles of Resident Evil. Keep in mind though that this mod is not those games and is a special and unique experience itself.

The co-op is a blast to play... if you can get into a server. It helps to have a good group of people who stick together and cooperate well :D

I'm on my second play through of the mod and am still enjoying it. The developers included a lot of nice unlockables and secrets to make this mod highly replayable.

This is a memorable experience that no one should pass up. Treasure your first playthrough and take your time when doing so, as it will be the most special playthrough I believe. If you don't already own Half-Life, this mod is one of the many good reasons to buy the game.

The developers of this mod did a fantastic job bringing Middle Earth to Mount and Blade. You really feel like you're fighting the War of the Ring and there are many great moments to be had including epic battles at the plains right in from on Minas Tirith. The graphics, gameplay, music, and atmosphere are not only excellent in their own right, but all of that has made this mod more fun for me to play than the base game alone.

This is one of the best Mount and Blade mods out there and an excellent mod itself. Even if Lord of the Rings isn't your thing, you'd be missing out not giving this mod a chance.
