This is a good point. Its a setup file, but I can see how that would make some people nervous. I'll see about providing a RAR for the next prototype.

No problem. I know patreons are not for everyone.

As far as turrets go base building will certainly involve turrets and other security measures to prevent breaches and aid you in containing them. I hope to be able to show some of this soon. I'm working on making a prototype with actual gameplay flow to help give everyone a better idea what each part of the game will actually be like.

If you download the Linux build it should be easy to run it, however I'm not a Linux expert. I know you need to make sure it has permission to run as an executable and you need to make sure you have the dependencies installed. What dependencies you would need I don't know. Maybe none, maybe several depending on your system.

As I don't have access to a Linux box its a little hard for me to test. If you find out any information or problems let me know so I can work on solving them and collecting answers.

Hey there isn't much to be sorry about. Although you might have been negative you were not wrong.

Also you should know that despite the seeming connection between your comments and my change of pace, you had nothing to do with it. I was going to keep on going regardless, but some events in my life forced me to reconsider things.

So don't stress over it. Thank you for posting for me on the blog. Its always better when I don't have to self post.

This game has always been a labor of love for me, I just hope to see enough support to have it reach its fullest potential as quickly as possible.

It depends on how long it takes to complete the next gameplay portions. I'm hoping to have basic combat and basic base building in the next prototype.

Thank you for your support! I haven't given up on the project, but the guest here does have valid comments. I don't feel this project has been a waste of time, but there will come a point where I will have to judge whether or not this project is worth any further investment.

I still have several things I want to try before then, so lets hope things work out for the best!

I am monitoring the response to this title and so far it has been pretty lackluster in all measurable ways. I still have a bit more I want to try and experiment with before making any final judgments. If it happens that it just doesn't measure up then I'll put it back in the hobby pile and try something else (and much smaller :D) There are many reasons I chose a project with a crazy scope like this one and some of those reasons have paid off.

At the very least this has been an incredible learning experience even if it ends up going nowhere.

Currently I don't have a way to give donations, but I'm looking into it. I want to make sure that anyone who donates gets some benefit in return rather than just hoping I'm able to complete this. Planning this out has taken some time.

Definitely keep an eye on it and let me know how you feel. The tactics side of things should stay pretty much the same, its the viewpoint that will differ.

On another note I'm going to have to check out Jagged Alliance apparently, and revisit Apocalypse.

So sorry I missed your comment. I try to be on top of these but this comment area escaped my attention.

SCPs will be encountered in a battle similar to UFO landings in XCOM. You will control squads of soldiers led by your customized squad leaders to secure the anomaly and take out any opposing organizations. Squad leaders will earn experience and their skills will improve as they use them.

Anomalies can be captured or destroyed in the battle. If captured they can be contained at a facility and researched. Research is necessary to unlock new technologies.

Basically we have many of the same ideas. I love brainstorming so feel free to send me more ideas. I will watch this site more closely in the future.

On the management side just one. On the report side there is the search screen and detail screen which will probably have three tabs. That should be it. Personnel gets pretty complicated. Trying to figure out how to reduce the number of screens is pretty tricky.

I am primarily focused on the Geoscape screen at the moment in order to produce a demo hopefully in April.

Once this section of the game is solid I will begin work on the combat portion of the game.

If you have suggestions for the combat portion feel free to send them my way. I am currently working on the design and any brainstorming input would be very useful!

It is very similar to XML and lua. Less structured than XML and no code like lua. Just simple readable data storage.
