Maybe this has been answered in other news posts, but with these weapon modules and such, is there a plan to have them change the graphics of the ship? With a side view it is a little hard to see things like armor plates, but if you install a new engine will it change the look of the engine, with a new gun will it add a gun to the top, missiles a missile rack etc.

Believe me I know what that can mean in terms of art assets, so certainly not a soon thing. Was just curious if that is an eventual goal.

There is still radiant flux from other stars, even that are far away. If there were not, we would not be able to see them! So even in deep space there is still energy to drive the photo-electric effect, albeit very very very very very very little. Just imagine this is a future where there are super-efficient super-conducting solar arrays that are freaking huge.

While that is absolutely fair, also try to keep in mind that they are trying to make it as complete as possible before launching it for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that these guys have very very little free time to work on this stuff. They are also playing with an engine that was NEVER intended for these things. Digital Anvil had plans for a lot of these things but were forced to release without any sort of hooks or anything to allow for this, so this has all been done with extremely clever coding that should not really work in the first place.

Imagine trying to make a toaster cook a pot-roast. Sure, with some clever work you could pull out the elements and arrange them flat, but you would have to totally take it apart and really make it work for you.

As for the matter of the fighters replacing player fighters, also keep in mind that the construction mechanisms for these carriers in the actual mod will make them prohibitively expensive to field a large number of them. It will not be like normal freelancer, or even freeworlds in the past where you could spend a solid day trading and have more than enough cash to buy a capital. And even so if they end up being too good, they can just dumb down the AI to make them something to worry about, but not something that is inherently better than a player by any stretch.

edit: That was not supposed to sound mean or anything. I also think that because this is a mod for an aged game, you are not really going to lose anyone that was not already sold on the idea the way you would on a mod for a young game.

Sorry that was really rude just that by itself. It looks really really good, I am interested to see how phone hardware handles it. And I could definitely see the screen size change as being a problem for the models. Where it will really come up weird is if someone loads it on to an Ipad. The widescreen of the Ipad (assuming you programmed to rotate?) might stretch the models funny. You might look in to that.

Its fine you are not required to download the mod at all. No one is making you go to adfly. You obviously must not want to play the mod that much or you would either A) Wait the five seconds to skip the adfly ad, giving these guys some return for years of hard work or B) Get the greasemonkey script that skips adfly all together like a competent person who hates adfly.

If you are upset that they used a DL link that requires 5 extra seconds and some more clicks then you are a lazy jerk, and if you are upset that they want to see some return on this at no real cost to yourself then you are a selfish *** and you should just go develop your own Halo Homeworld 2 mod instead of complaining.

you might could compare it to Roblox in some ways, but it is much more free form and typically has much less lag. Additionally SMP is typically persistent unless an admin put a rest plugin in or something, meaning you have time to build what you want with a little imagination.

If you were to evaluate Minecraft in terms of Roblox (I would not ever personally) you could say that Minecraft is what Roblox wants to become when it gets its act together.
