So i played your mod, and had some issues setting it up(been a while I didn't play any doom 3 mod on the vanilla d3), but all sorted out. A tip though, if you want you could set r_setvideomode -1 for any res I think, because the options will cause it to play in 640 x 480 in here at least. So to the mod. I was very impressed with detail level and voice acting which is pretty much the best so far ive seen in any doom 3 mod, including mapping and everything else. Altough ep 2 was harder and the pain elemental were scaray enough, Ive had it with all the imps everywhere, they are more annoying than anything else. Even then this was the oldschool premise of the mod, so that fits in with the theme. The best really is that it run on my toaster of a computer with a 14 years old CPU and windows 7 even with decent resolutions (as far as decent can go in this thing), even some AA. idtech 4 proved that still kicks *** and, despite the lack of the deuteragonist model (heck it's a pain to map but atleast you get to see her in the videoscreens, if they're the same person in Mars and back on Earth ?) so yea, like some people said looking forward to ep3 anytime. You could make it paid even and I think people would buy it.

Before proceeding to Freefall/Power up chapter, after getting through a stuck grate with noclip (similar to HL where you transverse some pipes into a green sludge area after killing the green tentacles) and swimming through a sewer pipe, the cutscene to the Freefall chapter gets stuck where the Gargantua would throw a HECU marine and Gordon doesn't spawn properly (it get's stuck in the middle of the screen and nothing triggers for some reason). To proceed one must load map a2a1 I think it is through console and spawn a item_suit with the proper weapons (smg, shotgun, crowbar and a purple toad if found, a couple of grenades too, pistol.) Is there a way to circumvent this ? Also the area I was refering to that you can only noclip is where the stukabat spawns twice and for some reason going in the water will stick the player in the grate if not open and unable to go back without cheating first, with noclip. The valve to open the grate I assume doesn't do anything unfortunately, other than rotating diagonally. But that is not game breaking, only weird. The problem is losing the antidotes and I don't know the spawn codes to those.

Here's the error message after going through conventional gameplay (that is not just loading the map):

Somehow typing kill will not do anything, stating the player is already dead. I presume Gordon/Ivan is getting crushed somewhere in the map and being killed so nothing happens anyway ?? Those origins are off the chart maybe.

tl;dr: Power Up/Freefall unplayable. Gargantua doesn't "die" other than impulse 203 (removing targeted entity). The train doesn't move away from it's initial place, proceeding to On a Rail impossible without noclipping since train doesn't activate the lift to upper level. Also, On a Rail is very messed up with maps not loading properly. I quit then and there, but I think it's worth a shot when it's ready.

What to say about this: Overcompensating is the keyword here. Large area maps, lots of innovations and creative ideas made with Hammer (you can ride an airplane and jump a bridge with a jeep) but too many enemies. Sure I did finish this but I had to cheat more than once and left frustrated at the immense difficult level this had in many parts (specially for triggering fuel valves or finding what to do to turn on a teleporter). Other than that it was interestingly built with good use of assets and textures so I gave this an 8/10 in the review but it would be pretty much better if what to do was more explicit and enemy placement less repetitive (too many grunts in ep 1, too many aliens in ep2).

The cars seen to glue more to the ground, there's a lot less tyre spin generally and the suspension is less wobbly than the vanilla handling.

Great game, feels very well paced and easy to aim, difficulty levels are pretty balanced and not absurdly difficult even in higher levels. Very newbie-friendly, and also dispenses the need of having Doom 3 installed. Widescreen is not really a must as playing in Doom 3 native resolutions without needing to alter the doomconfig.cfg for higher resolutions such as 1920x1080 actually feels more like playing a Doom 1 or Doom 2 era themed mod such as this one. Bugs are kind of difficult to spot really... I just could get past the E1 last level and I got stuck in a door but it was already a feeling of a E2 map, after battling hundreds of monsters when Doom.wad would display the level finish message it kind of went directly to E2 ...

The quality is great, headphones surely reccomended. If you cant run the mod just copy gzdoom-Alijr.ini settings to your own user name (example gzdoom-newfag.ini or whatever your windows user name is. If you dont have one run his exe at least once then copy the contents there).

This is might useful for bypassing Steam(ing pile of ****) when using Win 7. It doesn't start and loads rundll32.exe. I think it's trying to run admin mode or whatever which Steam(ing pile of donkey crap) doesn't have by default.

Saying this again is irrelevant but this is Mod of the Year material, if not the bloody decade. If you want to see Black Mesa from a more realistic perspective, this mod has it all. EVERYTHING IS CHANGED. The menus too. Just check it out. Be blasted to another dimension, and do not believe me ? Just play this thing.

This is the best mod ever. If you thought about visiting Black Mesa again, from a different perspective, this covers it all. I was blasted off with the quality in this mod, some other stuff (visiting Black Mesa from actual Black Mesa, that is in the outside), pools, dialogues, civilian scientists, low-level personnel with dialogue, it's pretty much when they created Deus Ex and everyone was with their mouth wide open. Just download this thing to see what I mean.

Hey man , I remember the first time I played Poke646. At first I was confused about two episodes at once but the again, its been a while since last time. It took me awhile to realize and when I got into the training facility I thought the game really changed a whole lot since last time, and after completing it I was already into the 1st level. I really like the attention to detail given to each section, and its pretty easy to figure out what to do when it's all laid out like that with clear instructions like the way it should be (most games won't achieve that level of detail). I felt pretty much like I was playing some talented CS 1.5 map when I arrived at the cafeteria into the first level, and from there on out I will find out how much Poke 646 changed since last time. Thanks for doing this.

great concept, unfortunately it was short lived. still there doesnt seen to be much to be desired based on concept i enjoyed to play through it and am glad to hear about this mod in time. i think the architecture in the beginning levels were perfect and they started to get slightly more sloppy when the levels progressed (extended textures for instance), but it played nicely and the atmosphere was there all the time during the part you infiltrate the plaza, and the breencast made me feel like it was hl2 1st chapter again, so yea its good for about 30 or 20 minutes of a playtrough and it offers a cool but short lived adventure. and its dark. please make use of sprint next time because it gets frustrating to cross certain parts too slowly, it looks like the guy from condemned: criminal origins when he runs like hes pooped. other than that, good job and keep up the good work.

Well, mate I'm sure you could pull it off if you wanted, but like you said, the question is: Are you really willing to put heart and soul in this project ? Do you really love They Hunger and HL1 that much that you're willing to go through hard times to (re)make it happen again ? Don't misunderstand me, but it would be just all too easy to drop out everything done so far and tell yourself: "I just can't do it." But, is it really ? Did you see how much you built so far ? And if so, would dropping a potentially successful project like that actually be better than not going forward, or at least releasing a Chapter 2 like the original TH ? I was really looking forward to being inside the police station and see how it would be remade into the Source Engine xD . With that said, the decision is left up with you, but if you need, discuss it with your team, because only you can pull this one off. Again, good luck.

Ok, I finished. It's going to be episodic as was with the original mod (AFAIK, since I donwloaded it after it was done a couple of years back). This one leaves nothing to be desired compared to the original, I don't think it's much too fair the rating it got (5.2) and the ammount of work that was put. But that does not matter. If you guys wish to improve then do read some of the reviews and replies here, but take everything with a grain of salt, praise and critics alike. What I could say to improve are paths (some areas are hard to reach, but that's no big deal, such as in the Devil's Rift exit, which I think gave quite a realistic feeling and to access the caves after the swamp), and that area too, where you find the guy stationed in the woods cabin could be a little less laggy, IDK if it is my old crapbox or something, but running at a "standard" 1920x1080 can lag when you look at specific areas. Otherwise, nothing to cite, I still keep my 10/10 because I ******* love this mod and the original They Hunger, a HL1 classic. Like the guy below said, can't wait for more levels. Don't give up, and strive to improve where you can. Good luck.

Excellent mod, I wish I could have better words to describe this, but now that I can finally play it, it should be fine. To people having problems playing, I suppose you should have HL2 as free accounts may not work due to Steam ****** configs with more recent mods. GLHF to everyone, and 10/10 to this mod.

EXCELLENT !!! I finally figured out my problem. I don't know why I could not play it in a new account (made with no HL2 games previously purchased whatsoever...) BUT, all of a sudden it started working !!! Downloaded SDK base, tried starting the mod. Nothing. Choosed (upcoming-) and now they are running fine !!! Finally, and I really like this mod, but I'm going to go with a Easy mode first time... We'll see how it plays out ! Thanks for building it, and 10/10 IMO.

Very good mod mate it was like a whole new experience in an already out-dated engine that was made to work again. As HL and HL2 mods are becoming far and few between these days, it was good to see one that had such good quality and certain innovations regarding mapping surprises and environments. It does feel like you're in a tower and feel in a city environment.

Really liked the premise, altough rather confusing at first, I admit I died a few times before figuring things out. Still felt very life like when arriving at the Simulator and doing what there was to do as you would in a real life forest environment. Gardening, cooking, liked the guitar tune too. Very nice work.

Wow, nice job. What was that at the ending ? Got me thinking. This looks very nostalgic to me and a lot like some Quake 1 levels, what with the very last part when you almost arrive at the underground cemetery. I like the fact that it's just action packed and don't really bother up too much with stuff like a plot, which fits just fine in the way it is, for you need to start running around and do something to avoid getting killed. Good job.

Very good level and mostly very sexy. Let me explain. That's not something you see in every HL2 mod out there, and the voice acting is top notch, not to say the scenario was well thought out and it clicks with everything else present in the level. Outside was very similar to a scene come out from a disarrayed City 17 as seen in episode 1 just before evacuating it. I didn't encounter anything worth noting that would degrade experience, since it's an action packed mod, and it seens to pull it out well enough. Good job.

Or if worse comes to worse: Playing it at 1024x768 ! Seriously, it could as well be just a refresh rate issue that's flickering the screen like that. Wouldn't hurt to try, right ?

Also try simply deleting DoomConfig or forcing a refresh rate in CCC or Doom 3, or just turn on Vsync to see if it leaves you alone.

Hello there friend, thanks for using the addon, but let's try to solve that:

1-If you are on an ATI, try turning off AntiAliasing or Anisotropic from the CCC if it's on.
2-Install a DirectX compatible with that video card (I tested it on a DX 10 card which is older and that engine is DX 9.0b).
3-The renaming of the exe file is when the engine halts, but that's a .NET framework issue, so try downloading it here: Filehippo.com

What I believe (given it happens with newer ATI cards) is a lack of compatibility provided by the engine, a different DirectX version, or all of these together. Sincerely there's not much that can be done other than downgrading your hardware or using a different video card, either way the chances of this working varies each time a new card is released up to the point the game engine simply stays stagnated and out of date with time with no new addition, no new code, and since you use a Steam D3 version like me, the lack of updates to the Vanilla Doom 3 is a sad state of affairs, indeed.

All I can hope for you is to try downloading a different Direct X version, maybe .NET framework and hope it works. Good luck and sorry if this doesn't work as it should.
