To anyone and everyone experiencing crashes with this mod:
I snooped around a bit on the interwebz and came across this 4GB application patcher. What this does is it patches your executable file of any game of your choice so that it can utilize 4GB of RAM instead of the commonplace 2GB which likely is the amount that older games like Assault Squad and Assault Squad 2 run on. My theory regarding the crashing is that much of the included content in Dark Rising is too resource heavy for the game to handle with a measly 2GB or whatever of RAM. Once I applied the patch, the crashing related to e.g. trying to select and place certain units in the editor as well as finishing a mission in said editor went away, and so far I've had zero CTDs.
Download the patch, unzip the executable into your AS/AS2/whatever game folder, run the included .exe file and browse to and select the mow_assault_squad.exe and mow_assault_squad_ed.exe files to patch them (the same goes for AS2 or any other game you wish to patch). After this, you should no longer have to cope with the frequent crashes.
Please welcome Bergerkiller to the SMB team! He is a mod creator aka batch programmer aka visual basic programmer and has also a bit of experience texturing (though not UVW mapping), and will hopefully be a good contribution to the mod and LPP :)
Weve been abit slow lately lol, but were not halting or anything, just thinking out possible ways to do this stuff. And we never realised that we should use a couple of models we got for player models that we had forgotten about, such as the whomp and the small bomb-omb =) Im gonna start on the player models tomorrow, which is the only thing remaining before we could make our update basically, but since im the only modeler i could need a hand or it would take a while of course, but not ages :P
Well cya all, im going for bed now
Well, first of all it aint my mod, its Axelofswedens, i have helped him with it abit and i also try to make it work for the users who cant install it. But anyways: I also had trouble to get the newest release working (2.0) so i stood by. It seems however that something is wrong with that release but i just recieved a new internal release from Axel which im now gonna try out and if it works, i will update the way of installing here.
It actually works good at the moment, and i can surely make it all the way to make my models go greatly into the BF2 engine, but nevertheless, time will decide :)
Yeah, its made more to look like the original King Bomb Omb in Super Mario 64 and not be too advanced, to add some nostalgy to it all :) I think there is a small part or two that could be fixed tho, but ill wait with that :D
Owell, the Archers effective range is 31 miles, so its quite realistic anyways :P
Hey, thx for the feedback to SMB =)
Put the whole swedish forces folder from the downloaded .zip file in the C&C Generals Zero Hour/Data folder and youre set. Just start your game as usual and go skirmish and choose to play as Sweden. (Take into account that the mod will probably not work if youre using The First Decade)
Thanks! It sounds interesting but theres some rules and stuff that includes you having to be in Lost Pirates and under that Lost Pirates Productions, so its a little tricky. But me or chris will surely notify you if it gets active :)
Naa, its a modeling tutorial aight, not a exporting/rigging tutorial =)
Okay, ill try settle and post up the edited model
If someone wanna help me with pics of statics (like the trees that i made, im the modeler) Please send em and i will start making em, i have to say it looks really good according to the WIP images and very much like the original Bomb-Omb Battlefield map :)
Yeah i feel this is gonna be real nice in the end :)
Yay! Im the new static object modeler =)
Yes its out, to install visit our official sites forum where ive written a thread for those who dont know how to install. To download just visit this mods download section
That would be good, i dont think the new system with multiplay only would fit too good without SP
Thats the wrong way to get the mod working, the install instructions are wrong. I found out a way to get it working:
Open swedish forces.zip, inside theres a folder called swedish forces, you put that in Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour/data.
Youre set. :)
You can already with the first version :)
Except for the MiG-29 Axel is also working with the T-90 and Mi-24/35 Hind for the mod. Great work! Those can we wiewed in the official forums along with some other goodies :)
It might also be that users who are not using The First Decade havent patched Zero Hour to version 1.04
Id also like to inform that the mod probably isnt working for those who are using The First Decade. Ive had reports of problems where people cant get the mod running after installed, even if theyve installed with my instructions. I think that an .EXE installer will have to be made to solve that problem for them, if possible.
