Description

Sorry Greta, but that coal's gotta burn.

In August 2028, a group of amateur historians were on an expedition in the Negev, searching for remnants of the Yom Kippur war with their metal detectors. Excited by the beeps and chirps, betraying the presence of something large, they began to carefully excavate the soil. What they found was beyond their expectations: A derelict British Mark IV tank. There were no historical records of any such tanks being sent to the territory of Mandatory Palestine; their finding sent shockwaves through the historian community.

Both Israel and the United Kingdom laid claim to the wreckage, causing a minor diplomatic spat which was resolved by a compromise: The wreck would be auctioned off to whichever museum, or entity, bid the most, the earnings going towards charitable causes aimed at preserving war history and veterans' wellbeing. After a short but intense bidding war, many were disheartened to learn that it had been auctioned off to an unnamed Gulf prince. Written off as little more than a vain indulgence, the tank was deemed to never see the light of day ever again.

Some years later, military analysts raised attention to a peculiar vehicle spotted in GLA propaganda... A grotesque, coal-belching machine akin to some steampunk fantasy, armed with a large mortar, leading a victorious procession of Sulaymaan's followers. Upon closer inspection, it bore an uncanny resemblance to a Mark IV tank... the very same tank that had been auctioned off! Intelligence analysts were left baffled as to why or how the tank ended up deep within Terra Nullis, desecrated and turned into some parade showpiece. Nevertheless, it seemed like the old beast had been given a second lease at life...
