I am using the Steam version and the v0.92 of the mod. I don't manage to make captions work. I had the "Wrong dll version" issue. I fixed this by replacing game00.pak by Omega Doom's.

When I select the option in the main menu, It isn't saved? I tried to set game language to english, avec all caption languages.

Any idea ? (same thing with Doom[CC] 2.0)

It was just to test if when you start a new game with a French UI the difficulty was taking the proper value.

I didn't use Redux. Already used in Vanilla. Feel free to try it and check for material issues. I am not a modder. Just somebody that shares his personal work for personal tastes. I don't care about celebrity or concurrency. I explicitely suffixed archives with creators names and credited them.

Strange you shouldn't have "Hard", but "Recruit", "Doom" and "OverThinked".

It's the case in French and I thought I do that on english. Will check that.

Yes, I think I could have avoided this texture, but It was very detailed. Wait and See...

For HDR it's very tricky ! It was the effect that gave me the most difficulties. The game needs HDR to express many things, but it's difficult to make it visible but not too much visible.

I think you can play with these values :

r_hdrWhitePoint "1.1" //Reduce this will make it more dull
r_hdrMiddleGray "0.1"
r_hdrToneMapper "0" //To reduce the intensity of the effet

It's just about 20 hours of work to make Overthinked to my tastes. I just share it. Creatures, characters and others models are changed for higher polycount and better animated ones. Lots of creatures, clothes, environment textures are changed.I replaced shaders with Dafama's (credited) and tweaked settings to use the most of the engine, meeting my tastes, trying to optimize and remaining bug free.

As I changed the files one by one, from archive to archive, I don't have a precise log of my changes. I greatly would have rather uploaded 700mb with my 1mb RE-ADSL. Sorry about this. If somebody could do the diff It could be nice !

In fact, I messed with the DoomConfig. I have to specify the binding for VenomHQ Menu

I already put my shaders, my (sikkmod) settings, improved textures, models and shading, included a modified VenomHQ with Sikkmod,....

But I don't manage to properly bind the new commands (lean left, lean right,...).

How Impulse work ? Can you help me ?

In short, weapons and armors are altered too and their ammunitions are not those in the magazines. They are created at need (I thought about the welder's blood, made dynamically solid to be projectiles) but It can be other thing.

During the process, the initial things of the weapons are damaged, like clips. Which triggers poor loot.

It's always nice to have a logic, even when a gameplay and atmosphere is nice. It allows to understand the situation and avoid some frustration. You know you are actually in a survival, against powerful ennemy, with ammunitions and weapons to choose well.

It's not a mod. It's a plot to explain the difference between unlimited ennemy's ammo, without reloading, and poor loot. If the idea suits you it could just be added to the description. Nothing to change to the mod.

For the updates I can already publish my new settings using other shaders, and adding shadows to each lights (credits to Dafama).

Yeah, I finally found a logic to Overthinked !

Hell's portal changes not only human DNA, but everything they wear, including weapons.

Bullets doesn't use magazines. They are produced with the owner's blood. In the mean time, weapon is damaged. No more need for reload and nearly unlimited ammo. You loot only what remains usable at the end ^^

I already updated settings and shaders. I'll then adapt it to Venom HQ menu, and finally make a French translation.

I just understood after reading the whole description of the mod (not just the summary). Sorry for having bothered you with my concerns !

To me modernize was also make things more realistic, like in the new Doom and other recent games.
Your goal is to add gameplay elements and rebalancing to make the game more nervous and brutal, like the old Doom.
I didn't understand.

I am finally more into Overthinked, but I can't play it because the "surviving" essence is artificially created (randomized low ammo loot on corpses, unlimited ammo without reload for enemies), so no coherence at all.

To conclude, you (all) make masterpieces that suits yours and tons of others needs. My needs may not be fully fulfilled, but I still enjoy the game (what nice remasters !), praize and cheers you ! BRAVO !

I am already pleased with the new Doom in "Nightmare" difficulty. Few ammunition, no external weapon for enemies, coherence, exploration, reflex and thinking.

Have to wait a few extra months before taking back my gaming PC and play it ^^

Finally I fixed the autoexec.cfg and now it's something else ! The only remaining issue is the AI that clash and then turn around. It's random so I didn't find a fix.

In fact I get the impression all characters are in the same case. The Soldier Skin (for us), the secretary at start, Swan, the orange suits,...

I don't understand at all...

Maybe no HD textures are working ? I put the 2 archive in the Perfected folder. Every "compression" parameters are off, in DoomConfig and autoexec.

Or rather 0 to 2 clips, but mostly 0 or 1. As I said, they often have time to shoot and use up their ammo. 30 machinegun ammo is quickly consumed. Maybe give them one or 2 grenades to surprise you.

And, apart in lockers, a secure base shouldn't have weapons and ammos that are lying to the ground ^^. There are scientists, not only military.

Ok, so you need just a reload animation. And then the rest would be possible ?

I see that there are interesting ideas in the forum. Especially the scripting algorithm from VGames.

No need for an animation at first (you can fill it with idle anim (or the crouch anim + a sound) and then add clip-size bullets) nor reloading feature.

In fact, to me it's mainly a scripting issue.
Just make it so there is a bullet count. Once succeeded, it will not hard to put the same number of remaining ammo to the dead corpse.

Reload animation is not a priority. It's the count of the bullets that matters.

For example. You can assign 90 bullets to a marine with machinegun, that will "emulate" 3 full clips. They will not reload but the count could be done, so that the right amount of ammo could be looted. And then by dividing by the number of bullets of a clip, you could deduce what is clip or simple ammo.

I know that it's quite the same in PD3. But it's not so obvious as Overthinked. The gap is too large here.

Doom 3 is 2004. Good yet old AI ;)
