This mod is amazing! Played it over LAN with 2 friends today, alternating between Twisted Insurrection and DTA, and both are fun and extremely well made.

New map features like aqueducts or usable trains and ferries are great additions, including the trains acting funny as the war rages on. :) And we can finally build the X-O Powersuit!

There are some crashes and errors, mostly when starting a game, but it works a lot better than the original game does on modern machines, so we are very happy so far. Haven't played Tiberian Sun smoothly like this for ages.

I'm putting error logs aside to eventually send them later. For all I know we might just have picked the wrong map/settings combinations or whatnot. I don't want to bother Rampastring with errors unrelated to the lobby or vice versa. Once we gather some more observations I'll put together some kind of report.

Currently playing over LAN, just 2 of us comp-stomping for now, but having a blast anyway.
At first we picked AI difficulty as if it was vanilla and got our ***** handed to us. :)

I have played a lot of Master of Orion I and II, and I liked the possibility to even unite the entire galaxy without a single battle. It involved a lot of luck and usually you had to take sides, but you could still capitalize on small empire of happy, productive citizens without much need to interfere with your neighbors.

What I'd personally love would be the first MOO with the factions and visuals of Armada III. Sadly, no modern engine seems to be capable of that.

Games lately seem to have decided that the only meaningful gameplay content is conflict, relegating anything else to cutscenes at best.
Feels wrong especially with Star Trek. I want sense of wonder, not sense of power. Almost any game can give me the latter.
We need a Ferengi space trading sim, a Vulcan scientific exploration game or a Klingon dialogue-heavy action adventure (doubling as a lesson of Klingon language). Stuff like that. :)

I actually liked the interactive movie thing with John DeLancie as Q. Awkward as a game, but all the mocking you got from Q when messing up was well worth it.

Despite all I have written, Armada III still looks intriguing, Klingon conquest or Cardassian oppression come to mind... Should be fun. :)

Starship combat was always on the periphery of my interest in Star Trek. Anyway, great work on the ship models and textures, they look magnificent. Might try to command one of them after all. :)

Is there any non-combat gameplay? The description "best star trek mod ever" would suggest so, but the mod's name or the PDF guide doesn't give me much hope...
In other words, can you meaningfully play peaceful Federation, or do they just have a better excuse for war? I don't even know the base engine's limitations in this regard.

I think this is very reasonable. Gotta convince my pals that this is our next game purchase. :)

And would such update be also applicable to other mods using CnCNet?

What does that mean? Ongoing donations for maintenance? Amount of work based on money received to justify the time spent? What would be acceptable situation for you?
I don't have much to spare, but this is a worthy cause, and I hope it will be for others too. Playing local games over the internet is a bad habit of today and TI deserves better.

Thank you for answering and explaining. My english may be more blunt than I intend, but I mean well.

I tried at least skirmish, and these are my findings:
-yet more incredible music
-very polished and consistent, nothing sticks out anymore
-fun looking game settings, like the malfunctioning cyborgs or harvester bounty

I deserve a slap for expressing that I think this mod deserves to be playable in multiplayer 20 years from now no matter what happens?

It's your mod, your time and your choice what to include or ditch. I'm frankly surprised just having the functionality there isn't worth 5-10 hours to you, considering the hundreds of hours surely already sunk in.

I can only hope you change your stance on this eventually. You guys have a patreon or something? We might actually put together a donation like that - I'll ask the others the next time we meet. You surely deserve money more than EA and such.

Well, too bad. I just don't understand why tie a large part of your hard work to an online service that may not always be around. And it isn't an option for many even now.
I simply can't provide stable connection for 4 people at once. Ironically it is that bad because our computers are so close to each other. It's just so much more convenient to connect them all via your fancy server, right? Who cares about a bunch of losers without proper connection like everyone who matters has?

I get it with large publishers pimping up their online dependency/DRM, but what's the point with hobby games? Is LAN really that low demand / high difficulty aspect?

Sorry for sounding so aggressive, it just feels hopeless, everything becoming an uncertain, untangible "service", eventually getting lost altogether as someone pulls the plug.
And it's the worst with things that are the most awesome.

Me and a couple of friends were really stoked about new TI version, but since you dropped LAN the mod is now in effect dead to us. Playing in fear of reconnection errors is no fun.

What reason was there to REMOVE the functionality? Does having LAN in your game make you a pussy or what?

BioMod + HDTP - awesome! I won't have the time to thoroughly test it in the near future, but I'd be very happy to have this combination available for my next DX playthrough (and give input once that happens). Please do share your modifications.
